Assume the VQ37DETT (or VQ33DETT?) is about the same size as the VQ37HR.... is there any reason why Nissan couldn't drop the GT-R engine inside of a G or a 370Z? The only reason is because Nissan actually needs to sell some GT-Rs first. If Nissan really wanted to challenge the IS-F and BMW M3 they could easily done so with their version of the FI 6 cylinder motor.

So BMW decides to bow out of the NA 6 cylinder motor war with a new turbo I-6 and V8, Lexus also adopts a V8 for its compact sedan, Nissan is quietly waiting for the competition to show their cards before stomping them with something special. I do believe the sales number of the 350Z and G35 in the past few years is high enough for Nissan to dedicate high performance varients. Hopefully they will decide to use some of the GT-R technology for the G and Z. (An AWD Nissan Quest with 450hp VQ37DETT would surely raise some eyebrows)

I think all these nostalgic RB worshipping will end when people see the next generation GT-R. Nissan Japan has been racing the VQ33DETT motor in the JGTC race cars for the past few seasons with great success. Time will prove the VQ is a very good motor for FI application.

True.

It does not indicate in anyway they Nissan/Infiniti is not serious about their NA motors which was your original statement.
We will see. As I've said, the VQ is almost at the end of it's development. And I've not seen a high powered V8 yet. If Nissan wants to get over 375hp na, it won't be with the V6 IMHO.
