In the market for a G37S coupe

Hey Everyone,

I currently have a 2006 g35 coupe and looking to upgrade to a 2008 g37S coupe.

I have searched and found the basic differences but had a couple questions for you owners out there.

1. Is the DS mode still slow to shift gears?
2. Any known problems with the g37S coupe (ex: g35 coupe had that oil consumption, tire feathering, axle creaking etc. Luckily i never ran into any of those problems
3. Gas mileage wise is it better then the G35? (not a big deal for me or else i would buy a prius, but still good to know)
4. I have searched the whole seat bolster collapsing and i see that it still happens on the g37. It happened to my G35 when it was out of warrenty and i dont want it to happen again. Should i be worried about this?
5. My g35 paint was garbage it chipped if you looked at it wrong, is the g37 any better in paint.
6. Is it worth forking out the extra money for the 2009 g37. I heard it comes with 7 gears and the self leveling paint.

Hate being a noob but i want to make sure i make the right decision and know what to look for when buying this car

Thanks everyone!

1. No problems from what I can tell in mine. The tranny in my 09 is brand new. The Stillen supercharger installed lays down like 500+ whp so the tranny burnt out. The dealership pulled some strings and got a new one under warranty and this one has a complete cooling system installed, so it works and shifts great...especially in DS.

2. I have heard of the 37's being prone to having overheating problems/issues...but I haven't experienced a single one. If one was worried about it though. There are a couple companies (including Mishimoto) that makes 180 and 155 degree thermostats for the 37 that will run your car much cooler. Those that do this mod though should look into having their fans adjusted so that they kick on sooner.

3. I have 1000cc injectors and an UPREV tune...and I get 360 miles a tank. Stock should get a bit better than this. Hope this helps.

4. No problems with seat bolstering here.

5. The 09 does have the "self repairing" paint.

6. This is an opinion that will differ amongst other people...but in mine (opinion)...yes. I DO think it is worth it to shop for an 09 rather than an 08. You can find some deals on some 09's out there that are selling for 08 price. Use the forums and Autotrader is pretty good...you should find something that is EXACTLY like what you want for the price that fits your budget if you are a serious buyer.

Hope this helps dude.
