Creaking/Cracking rear panels during winter

Hi.

I notice the rear dash/panels have an awful Creaking/Cracking sound when driving during the winter. Driving over uneven surfaces like snow or entering/exiting a driveway the rear dash panels are making a very annoying sound and only when it's cold. I've tried sticking socks and other dampening materials like weather strips, where the rear glass touches the panels but it didn't help.
I'm guessing others have this problem during winter and i'd love to know what you may have done to fix it and where it would have been isolated to specifically?
Thanks in advance.

So believe it or not, the Factory Service Manual (FSM) has a troubleshooting section for "Squeak and Rattle Trouble Diagnoses." I would start there.

You can download the whole manual at www.nicoclub.com. As a thank you, you should register a user account there too. The chapter you are looking for is "EI" (Exterior & Interior). If you download all the chapters (I did), put them in the same folder and start with file "FWD.PDF." It is the table of contents, and clicking on any line will take you to that chapter automagically.

Good luck!
