Thumbs up Torque Wrench Maintenance?

Just wondering if any1 knows how to clean and maintain a torque wrench. I understand that it should be handled with the utmost care because any kind of abuse will result in the calibration being off. Also when storing the torque wrench the setting should be at the lowest possible level. TIA!!

Not much other than keeping it clean and do not dropping it.

If you use your torque wrench on a regular basis: After 5,000 cycles or one year of use, whichever comes first, have it inspected and recalibrated by the manufacturer or reputable calibration service.

Understood but wat kind of oil do I use to clean the rachet head? Is it ok to take the C-ring out and clean the internals during this process?

only take apart the ratchet head. Do not remove the cap from the end where you set the torque. I usually use brake cleaner to remove all oil/grease. Then depending on the ratchet type lube it up. if it's a low tooth count like 30-36 teeth then use a grease, I use a grease called corrosion block but you can use any type of grease, a moly grease would be ok. if it's a high tooth count like 76-80 teeth I use motor oil. The high tooth gears do not have enough clearance for a grease and will tend to get stuck, so a oil is used.
