Car not starting
So I am leaving work to go to lunch and notice my key fob does nothing when I attempt to unlock the car. What's even more unusual is that the car is unlocked. I pushed the lock button on it and again nothing happens. I get in to start it and nothing happens. Now that I am paying close attention to the car I notice a rapid clicking noise coming from near the glove compartment area. I get out of the car to check the battery (only 2 months old) and hear the clicking noise clearly coming from the battery area. The only other thing worth mentioning is that I had tint done all around and in order to keep the front windows from opening when you open the door the guy removed the screws that go in by the little plunger that the door closes against(they have been out for the past 3 days so I could let the tint dry). I just re-installed them but the car still is not starting. Anyone have any thoughts?
it can't be that...the car is not even cranking. Looks like something is draining your battery. It could be that plunger thing your tint installer removed to keep the window from rolling completely shut or in your case...rolling down, when you open and shut the door.
The car probably thinks it's still open, even if they took out the lights out temporarily. In fact, leaving the doors wide open, the front lights will automatically go off by itself making you think that your car is locked but in fact it's not. If i'm not mistaken, the trunk cabin light stays lit as well when the doors are kept open, even long after it has been left open(unlike the front lights). This probably explains why you can't lock the doors and why it discharges your battery.
You will need a jump start and get your battery charged back up. If you have installed the plunger back, check to see that everything locks, lights go out, windows rolls completely sealed. You can even keep the rear seat folded down to see if the lights go off there too.
