FRUITOPIA BOTTLE CAP sized OIL LEAK
K.. i know the title is a lil off but it was the first thing that came into my head when i saw the size of the leak.
I parked my car and didn't really notice the oil leaks right away. Apparently, when i park my car for about 5-8 hours, there is no leak but after leaving it OVERNIGHT, there is about a 1.5" diameter oil patch near the front (parallel to the front wheels.)
Any type of OIL leak just makes me go crazy as I had a bad experience with them from 2 cars ago (2001 toyota camry). After literally 7 trips to the dealership, washing etc., they finally found the problem to be a bad oil filter. !!!!!
Now i'm not 100% sure if this oil leak started before or after my recent oil change (about 2 weeks ago).
I'm afraid the leak has something to do with that engine value thing you guys talked about in the other threads. does that cause a very SLOW oil leak? since it doesn't seem to leave a patch of oil when i leave the car parked for 5-8 hours. only overnight (around 11-12 hours)
I hope its just the oil filter on this car as well... does anyone have any experience with oil leaks? can it be as bad as a new engine required?

I hope iT's as simple as that. But wouldn't a bad engine leak oil as well?

what you mean by the O ring from the engine fan? so its not my engine and its a minor fix? i know a bad engine would consume oil but correct me if i'm wrong, wouldn't there be a leak if the engine had like a small hole or broken seal to it? :S
can't wait til wednesday, going to get ANOTHER OIL change done just to make sure its not the filter.

I had a similar leak. The rubber washer around the dip stick was shot. Replaced dip stick and it fixed the problem Check to see that your dip stick is seated.

dip stick has a rubber washer? :S i thought it was just a peice of metal that goes inside where i can check the oil levels? I'll check out all of your suggestions tomorrow! thanks guys for your VALUABLE input so far...
Yesterday, after an overnight parking, no oil patch! (i take a picture everytime and compare).
I can't wait to do a comparison tonight, let it sit there for about 16 hours so far.

Not really a "washer", kind of works like a small "rubber cork" that seals the end of the dip stick. I have heard that if you run your engine without the dip stick in place oil will splash out. The "rubber cork" thing seals it.
Good luck!

I had a very small oil leak on my car when I bought it as well. Took it to the dealership and they replaced the seal between the filter and the oil cooler. It had been damaged by someone overtightening the filter during oil changes. They also replaced the oil and filter. How much did this cost total you ask? $0 all covered under powertrain warranty.
