shifting problems and inexpensive tires

So I have had my 2005 G35 since October and it has been a blast. Recently I had a lady with no insurance rear end me at a stop light which sorta sucks but **** happens.

I had a few questions regarding the car. I used to drive a 1991 honda CRX before this car and it seems like the shifting is alot different. Is there any advice you guys could give me regarding shifting smoothly, including rpms to shift at? It just seems like when I drive fast it is real jerky rather then smooth inbetween gears and sometimes it is the same just driving normaly.

Another thing is I will have to get new tires soon and since I just recently got laid off is there any kind of low budget tires for the Infiniti? Not really the car to be searching for deals but ya gota do what ya gota do.

Thanks,

TJ

I would start with a transmission flush.

I haven't found this car to be the smoothest machine in the world, but it isn't too jerky. Do you have experience driving stick? I would say to shift at a rather low rpm for DD, but that's just me. It saves on gas, trust me. Sometimes I skip gears as well, I regularly will go from 1st to 3rd, or something of that nature. Tires? I always recommend Hankook if you can't afford the likes of Toyo or Michelin. But I roll with Michelin Pilots, I highly recommend them but they're over $250 per tire. You just got laid off...do what you have to do. GL

sorry about getting laid off!

I have Yoko S-drives. Might want to price Kumho
Might want to check craigslist for used tires.
Buy a tire gauge before you look at any used ones tho.
