grounding trouble,please help

i recently pulled my motor a few weeks ago to do a bit of work. i re-installed motor last week, connected all my plugs back the way they were(labeled) im comming accross a problem with my alternator ground wires(friend removed them w/o labeling) when i try and connect or jump the batt.,im getting a NASTY spark, which is a tell tale sign of improper grounding ,jumpers also get really hot ...question is about ground wires for alt. where do the 2 grounding points bolt up?

wire is as described- comes from main ground, has an 'eye" that connects to alternator then wire continues to an "L" shaped end(cant figure out where this wire goes) both have rubber gromets..any suggestions? ive tried grounding to chassis and block, both failed.
thanks,mike
