G Involved in a Small Accident - Electrical Question

Hi G35 Boards! I've posted this on the G37 forum. A G37 owner got into an accident recently where he rear ended a car in front of him. The driver's side airbag came out. The damage wasn't too substantial, just needs the bumper repainted, so he wants to fix it via body shop by paying cash and not handling matters through insurance. He had already purchased new airbag to replace his old one. When he purchased the airbag, the seller advised him he should get his airbag module replaced. I just want to verify for the guy if this is mandatory in the process of returning the vehicle to original state. If someone out there knows, please feel free to chime in.
