Air Conditioner Problem

Hey guys, just acouple weeks ago my AC stopped working. I thought I had low refrigerant so I went ahead and bought a can of R-134a. When I tried to put some in the gauge showed red stating there was too much pressure in it.
Does that mean I should release some pressure? Also how would I go about doing that? I don't think it's my compressor because my fan spins and I also hear a clicking sound when I turn on the AC.

Also I tried searching but found no answer. I also checked if my Z tube was rubbing on the lines to make them leak but saw nothing.

thanks in advance.

A/C systems are very sensitive to pressure fluctuations. You CAN'T simply just add more coolant and fix the problem. You need to take it somewhere and make sure that one, the a/c compressor is working and two, have the system evacuated and a vacuum pulled before any new coolant can be added.

I should update this. So I found out my compressor was bad even though it was turning on. I changed it and it works fine.
