Ooookay, so the dealership says the Tranny is completely gone.
They gave me a bill of $5900 for the tranny and TCM. Plus they said the control bar on the left side is gone which is another $600.
They made a total bill of $7700 after taxes!! And on top of that, to make things more difficult for me, the service manager (who i trust), tells me that the car is in amazing condition otherwise.

Wow. That's just simply absurd

I remember talking to a transmission shop (that's known for being kinda pricey) and the guy told me to hope my transmission never went out because it would cost ~$2500 to fix it.
Yet the dealer came up with a figure over THREE TIMES that?!?!?! Thieves!

Like the above post said, get a rebuilt transmission from a reputable builder and have it installed by someone other than the stealership.

Or, if you have a transmission shop nearby that comes highly recommended and has a good reputation, let them rebuild it.

Actually, to be honest, I wouldn't be all that scared to tackle doing the transmission myself on the the G. I've helped do one on a couple different Chevy trucks, and the G looks more straightforward.

I am definitely not brave enough to do the transmission on my own. Plus i really don't have the time necessary to do it either.

After butkis' suggestion i looked into used Transmissions and I found a guy who was said he could find one for about $600 (used from a junk yard) and install it into my car all for about $1,000.

If that doesn't work out, I'll get butkis to mail me one form Cali. He was kind enough to offer his services.

So i'm really really really hoping this local dude finds the used transmission he was talking to me about.

I just have to figure out if the TCM needs to be changed too and/or re-programmed and if this guy can do it for me or not....

Oh and I also went to transmission repair shop and they told me $1800 MINIMUM charge if none of the plantaries are broken or cracked. So if it's just replacing the soft parts and clutches then it'll be $1800 and up from there. They also said for $4000 they'd put in a reconditioned transmission in for me.

The unfortunate part is that if could simply be just the soft parts and I wouldn't know. So i'm electing against this option for now.

Definitely am gonna get it repaired. Won't trade the car in for another.

I love it too much to give it up.

I thought I'd fill you guys in....

Getting it fixed at a local shop for $1,100. The guy is gonna pull the tranny out and put in a used one.

I'm not too sure what's gonna happen with the Transmission Control Module and if that'll work properly with this transmission. I'm trusting this guy at the shop to know what he's doing.

Will get the car back in a few days!
Thanks to everyone who helped!!

damn, a civic?? thats more punishment than anything else. when u have 2 drive some other car, u really appreciate ur G.....my G was in the shop 4 a few weeks and I got a 2010 dodge challenger from enterprise. i got plenty of looks but the drive was terrible. bouncy as all hell, braking was crappy. it was like I could feel the calipers sqeezing when braking over bumps. i have the x model G and this RWD challenger was about 2 do a 360 spin in light rain on a turn. bottom line, respect ur G, treat her rite. cause at the end of the day, do u really want anything else??

Alright, here is the update....

Got the car back today. Works well. Shifting is very smooth and snappy.
The whole thing cost me $1,300! It's still a lot of money but a lot cheaper than what the "stealership" was quoting. Man i missed the car so much!

^Yep. That's not bad at all.
It's a lot of money, but like you said, nothing like the stealership. But AT work is always expensive.
