Burning smell and smoke AT 04 Coupe
When the car heats up and i hit it and drive it rough and s soon as i park it after im done there is smoke coming out of the radiator. Its not overheating because its not thick smoke and it smells like burnt oil. also sometimes when im just sitting at the light idling sometimes that smells comes up. my valve gasket is has a small leak could that be it. Help thnx
Check for oil around your dipstick and valve covers. Might also want to check inside where the spark plugs are. Most likely your valve covers. Sometimes the dipstick isn't pushed in all the way and sometimes valve covers are just leaking. You should see it generally around your dipstick usually indicating valve covers leaking or oils being pushed out of weakened valve cover seals
happens with hard driving if you haven't had an oil change in a while. probably nothing to worry about as long as your fluid levels are normal and your oil is changed at regular intervals. VQ35de's do have valve cover leaks (as do almost all engines I know of) but it has to be really bad to even warrant repairing out of pocket. Except you will die.
Hey Vee,
Did you get a resolution to the smell? Just curious as I have a similar smell after coming off the freeway and idling at a light.
I had some gaskets replaced and and the oil is no longer leaking, but the smell is still coming through the heater vents after freeway drives. The mechanic thinks it is from residual oil built up and still burning off. It stinks!
