Power window fail??

Hey guys I went to replace my power locks on my g35 coupe today and decided it would be a good idea to clean the power window motors at the same time and I can’t get the window to work again?

The passenger side window was working perfectly and after I took the motor apart to clean the commentator bars with rubbing alcohol its not working? I get 12vd DC at pins before the motor and at the motor it’s self I get 12v DC on the two commentators.

Maybe there’s a reset or I’m not rebuilding the motor correctly? I did the driver side one the same way and it worked perfectly?

Well, I for one have never heard of doing that kind of maintenance to an electric motor. Maybe you got lucky with the driver's side and the passenger's side didn't go back together correctly? If I had attempted that operation I'd probably have a bunch of weird little parts leftover AND it wouldn't work.

So there is a "reset" button on the motor but it has to do with the auto-reverse function. It's to retrain the motor to know the window's travel so it doesn't see the fully closed position as an obstruction and auto-reverse. I don't think this addresses your problem though, you should be able to make the motor turn by applying 12v to the correct pins. Since you know you have +12 be sure to check you haven't lost the ground side. Anyway, here is the info about the "reset" from an 05/06 manual:

Hey thanks for sending me the file for the upper limit . Ill need to do it for the driver side. And ill probably take out the motor when i get a chance and do the 12v test. im a electrician so all this is easy . The removal of the door without breaking any plastic pieces is not though haha

But yes you take the motor apart to clean the built up of carbon on the commentator bars .
