Battery vs spark plug vs window problems
Hey i so i wanted to know and clear up a problem i have been hearing about with everyone when they change their spark plugs. The first thing i heard to do is disconnect the battery from the negative terminal before you start. but i heard of some technical problems when people do that. Apparently if you DO NOT lock the car and Roll up the windows before you disconnect the battery, the Window mechanism that rolls up the window that extra 1/2 inch will be damaged indefinitely and also the window motors and window mechanisms will be damaged permanently. Is this true? If you dont roll up the windows and lock the door prior to disconnecting the battery will the car still be okay? will the window and window mechanisms still work?
much needed information on this would be appreciative, and alot of help for everyone else who might have overlooked this also.
Thank you,

No, this is not true. You will not damage your window motor or anything in the power window circuit, for that matter. The only issue that you may encounter, and I believe it is due to lack of power to the window motors for an extended peiod of time, is that you may have to reset the window motor limiters. If the motors are deprived or battery power for a long enough length of time, the memory set for the limiters will be erased. You'll know that this has happened when you attempt to "AUTO UP" your window, and once in reaches fully closed, the window will come down again about half way. If this happens, you'll need to reset your window motors.
No damage to motors, mechanisnms (they are mechanical, anyway), or circuit.

This is not the first time I have read about how the windows open slightly when the door is opened and closed....What I normally associate with BMW's.
My 07 Sedan does not do this. What years have this feature?
Also while we are here, can some provide this reset?

Nvmd guys I just finished the spark plug change, I answered my own question nothing even happened to the windows haha. Just keep the windows rolled down and you won't even run into the problem in the first place haha. Btw the spark plug change was so freaking easy. And I have never done anything to car even.
