Rebuild vs used transmission?

Hi all, my tranny is shot. Is it better to rebuild or get a used one? And how much would a rebuild cost? I got quoted for around 4 G's and I'm from California. Does that sound about right?

What kind of Tranny? Ultimately a rebuild would be best but is obviously the more expensive route. Going with a used transmission can be a gamble but if it was maintained properly than it should last for years.

just buy used...cd009. They go for around $600-800 on the used car market.

That sounds about right. Rebuilding would be your best option. People that get used transmissions tend to have problems with them.

Rebuild for 4000? You can get a brand new manual transmission (CD009) for 1700 plus shipping.
