Need help

Does a 06 g35 coupe headlights have a ignition wire in the harness? Or is there a wire that's in the harness that had constant power for my halos? Any help would be greatly Appreciated

Dear Johnny 3-threads...(we're just teasing, don't be offended)

If I understand correctly, what you're trying to do is have your halos come on whenever the engine is running. Almost like Daytime Running Lights? (Too bad it's not a Canadian car.)

So, think about it ... there is nothing up in that area of the car which is always energized when the ignition is on. And it's not the ground that gets switched, it's the + that comes down the harness to energize things. So you would need to do some mods to get what you're after.

The best hack might be right at the IPDM. You'd need to do your research but you could theoretically tap off power from the fuel pump relay fuse - which is obviously energized when the ignition is on - and use that power to operate the "Headlight Low" relay which is about 3 inches away physically. That would be a slick mod but you need to do your homework to know what you're getting yourself into and probably find a way to tap into it at the connectors because the IPDM is a sealed unit.

Beyond that the next option may be to disconnect your cigarette lighter after its fuse (interior fuse block) and run a new wire out through the firewall directly to your halos. You could probably find where the headlight harness meets the IPDM and power them from there. Or, even pull the headlight fuse from the IPDM and see if you can insert the cigarette lighter power into that point which would run the original headlight relay... Yeah right. But again, you need to be careful not to energize the wrong side of anything and send power backwards through your boxes...

And now the disclaimer: I am NOT recommending you do any of this, especially if you don't completely understand the circuits and can't read the schematics for you car. The IPDM is a costly thing to replace so you wouldn't want to light it on fire...
