No keys, Ignition swap issues, HELP
Hi, i am new here and would appreciate any help anyone can give.
I bought an 05 G35 6mt rev edition, salvaged non reparable for a good price from a friend and the car is great but it had no keys at all. Never started it and have no idea of milage but the car is great and i am happy. It looks in great condition over all. Now that i was able to purchase a donner shell ( an 04 G35 automatic ) i have begun the phase of switching everything over. The issue came up when i removed the 04 engine and drivers side harness ( harness leading from the engine bay firewall to drivers side int, along with engine harness ) and replaced it with the 05 harness i did this because it was easier for me and i wanted a newer harness on the car. Once the 04 harness was removed, i installed the 05 harness ran it under the drivers side and found out that the 05 harness is a bit different and does not plug in to my ignition the same way. There are other interior plugs that dont match as well but my concern is the ignition first because the donner car is the only keys i have. I have read up as much as i could find online and didnt get far, i read something about pin 53 being lead to a positive if i run the original 04 auto harness and blah blah, i have spent a bit of money on both cars and am strapped for now so i am hopping there is something i am missing here and i think there is a solution. If anyone out there has knowledge on what to do please give me shout. The only thing i did not transfer when it come to wiring is the internal harness in the car under the dash, the dash is out and i am going to transfer the rest of the harness soon, i just need to resolve the ignition issue first as i have no other keys. Thanks

Not sure I understand what exactly you are saying.
You are planning on driving the '04 body with the COMPLETE '05 engine, transmission, wiring harness, BCM, ECM but you have no KEY for the 2005 correct?
If that's the case you can just have a locksmith cut a new key based from the VIN number of the 2005, then you will need Nissan to program the key to the BCM. An alternative is to decode the pin number for the BCM and purchase the NDS2 software and program it yourself.

Yes
That is what i am saying, thanks for the replay. Can any locksmith do this or do i need to find one car specific. Dumb question but i have to ask.

Call around, the VIN number will give a qualified locksmith the information they need for the physical cut of the key (so it physically will turn the ignition lock/door cylinder). After you have the key cut you then program the BCM to accept the transponder in that key (so the key will actually start the car). Nissan charges a flat rate for programming regardless of number of keys, you can program up to 5 separate keys to the BCM but they need to be programmed at the SAME TIME.
Key fobs are completely separate and you can program those yourself.

So as suggested called around for a local locksmith and they refereed me to a guy that cuts car keys and program's them. He is going to order the key, come to where the car is cut the key and program it for $275 only one key tho. I asked how much it would cost me to get an additional key and he quoted me $195. Which i think is allot for just an additional key. He states that those keys were specific and were only made for a two year run and that is why they are pricey. (calling bs on that but hey who knows) Also called an infinity dealership to ask what they can do and they quoted me a crazy starting estimate for minimum cost of $500 plus tax and they said possibly it will be more. Plus i would have to pay to tow the car there. So that was scary as hell. I am hopping this guy can get the job done. Even with one key i will be a very happy camper. Will post on the final resolution to the problem once its solved. Posting this up in case others need the info. I am a new member of the forum and honestly respect the support and love out here. Big Thanks to all.
Sounds like he's ordering original cuts from Nissan which is fine, it's cheaper for a locksmith to grind their own cut based on the VIN but they need the Nissan templates for that which are a little spendy. I think I paid $70 per key when I had duplicates made. Nissan charges like $125 for programming as well. So basically I paid $200 but I was able to drive my vehicle down to Nissan for programming, charging $275 for them to come to your house to program sounds reasonable.
Once everything is up and running I recommend you have a copy made of the one key you will have because you can always use it to unlock the door if you lock yourself out of the car. Should only cost about $20 for a non-chip blank key, don't need the VIN cut they can just match your existing one.

Hey y'all
i had the key guy come out yesterday program and cut a new key, and it all works great. It cost me $250 and it took him about 15 min for everything. My biggest issue along with not having a key in the first place was having to swap over the interior wiring harness and also the steering column. That was some heap of ****, thank you infinity lol, Space is super limited unless you unbolt the dash frame from the door sills, literally its like trying to help a cow give birth, you have to slap the gloves on lube your hands with wd40 (my best friend ) and go in deep. hehehe . In general not enough space to pull things out nicely without unbolting the dashboard frame, but it can be done without it. Over all again BIG THANKS TO THIS FORUM, LOVE YOU ALL
