Airbag wiring harness

2005 G35 Coupe, 138,000 mi. Previous owner unable to get replacement harness installed. Now they are not available. Can turn warning light off with 4 on/off trick but would like to fix permanently. Any ideas? How serious is the problem.
Thanks!

First off it sounds like you're having a problem with the airbag light turning on and not actually a problem with the wiring harness yes?

There's too many possible reasons why it's triggering the light, every single sensor has open/shorted detection for EVERY wire and the only tool that can read the actual code it's throwing is the Consult II dealership tool since it uses a bunch of random wierd proprietary Nissan codes.

Pay for a 1 hour diagnostic from Nissan, it's like $125 and then you'll know EXACTLY what the issue is.

airbag harness

Thanks for the comment. The issue was identified by code by my Infiniti dealer. The problem is the airbag wiring harness needs to be replaced (Federal recall 2010) but it wasn't done and now no replacement parts are available.
Appreciate any ideas.

The harness doesn't need to be replaced, the side airbag harnesses stop making contact because the wires can wiggle around too much. If they need to repin the harness that's some apprentice level electrical work. Usually you just need to unplug the harness and plug it back in a few times to clean up the contacts, or unplug and spray some electrical contact cleaner into them.

On the coupes there is also a potential problem with the USDM driver side seat belt pretensioner. Same procedure.

Nothing in the Infiniti TSB says anything about replacing the entire harness so your service center is misinformed about the steps to fix the problem.

I can dig up the manufacturer instructions later if you like, I'm pretty sure I still have a copy floating around somewhere.
