Battery Died and Hood Won't Open
Battery Died and Hood Won't Open
My hood latch (2004 G35 sedan) has been funky for the past couple of weeks, and the hood will only pop after driving around at speed for a while. The inside release latch still has tension in the cable (and works if the car is warm), so I'm assuming it's not that. I've tried getting someone to push down on it, pull up with a bar, etc while I pull the latch, but no luck.
Yesterday, however, I took a quick trip to the store and when I came back to my car, it wouldn't start. I'd assume it's the battery because the alternator was working when I drove there and I heard a couple of clicks while it tried to turn on. Since my hood latch is stuck, though, I couldn't get inside to check it out, and ended up having to get my car towed home (thankful for AAA). Is there anything I can do, other than get it towed to a mechanic or dealer?

Hold the release open while someone bangs their hand on the front of the hood to get it to pop up. Then spray WD-40 or other lubricant on the release latch.
