On ma way 2da dealer!!!!

Has anyone here who owns and drives a G35 coupe had a rare problem called " Oil Consumption Problem?" Well, I do! It sucks! When I picked up my new 05 G with 7 miles on it I was the proudest SOB until after driving the car for almost 3000 miles. The engine had a loud metal-metal contact. Loud enough that anybody walking around could hear it! I was so embarrass driving a brand new car with this type of problem. So I took it to the dealer and told me that the car was four quarts low on oil. I read the manual when I got home and the VQ35 engine takes about five quarts. I was driving the damn car with one quart of oil all along. Ouch!!! 2 make a long story short they gave the car fresh oil and told me to come back after driving it for 1000 miles. I drove back 4000 miles. Now the engine consumed one quart. Topped it off with fresh oil and told me to come back 5000 miles. Drove back with 5000 miles...again it consumed one quart. They couldn't figure out the problem so they called the best in the mainland. They ordered some parts I think and they changed those parts. Put new fresh oil again and told me to drive the car for 3000 miles this time and bring it back. I drove the car back to the dealer with 8100 miles. Well, they couldn't do **** because the car went over 100 miles. So Jason told me to drive the car 1000 miles and bring it back with 9100 exact miles. I'm on ma way right now and the car has 9121 miles. Can't help it I only have one car. They'll prolly tell me that the car went over 21 miles so they cannot point out the problem. I'm just tired driving back and forth already. That's why I'm kinda losing interest with this G. I should have bought a Honda Fit or a Yaris instead. It sucks when you're paying that much on something and the quality is ****ed-up!

So did the metal on metal sound go away after or is it still there. Driving on one quart of oil would scare the hell out of me. I would do a compression check to make sure everything is still sound.

Skip the yaris, you'll want a 4 door fit or civic.

I want a civic! Tell me if you change your car.

damn sucks. I heard of the problems before.
I seriously think it's just bad piston ring sealing, and your burng off the oil that way. it could be a quality control issue where the rings were place in the rong order, wrong position, or the rings just suck. The only other way to see that is to tear apart the engine and note things.

haha.. ahh yes.. 2 years ago when i told everyone that the VQ is a POS and everyone was like... no it the best thing since sliced bread.. and now all you hear about is the same oil eating problems. i feel for you man, good luck, hopefully you got a little brown in you and you can use your local charm cause i had no luck, "my exhaust was making my piston rings go bad" according to infiniti. its actully i pretty big issue, its not just the G's doing it, its all VQ engines doing it in all cars, but dont tell infiniti that "there the experts". let us know how it goes.

Oil Burning

If the rings were leaking, wouldn't the exhaust be smokey? AKA white smoke.
Unless it's a small leak over time I guess not.

hmm I have white smoke coming out of my exhaust usually in the mornings though. Gotta go check my oil now. But yeah I know on the 4g63 motors (dsms) when you have a bad ring or seal white smoke does come out of the exhaust when you punch it.
