I like Sugoi's garlic (spicy) chicken better (off Dillingham). Mitsuken is good though.

If you're surfing on the north shore, 2 tips/warnings that you should heed. Check with a lifeguard before going in on the winds and currents, especially if you haven't surfed at the spot before. 2nd, respect the "locals" and be careful not to "drop-in".

i've been to Oahu, Maui and Big Island. If it is R&R you want, honestly, Oahu really isn't the place. I would suggest Big Island or Wailea, Maui. Very secluded and peaceful... I just had my honeymoon there 3 months ago in Maui and Big Island. My favorite island thus far is Big Island.

 

i'm thinking you may be interested in the U2 concert on 9-DEC??? There's a bunch of fan club/groupies out there that are organizing crazy stuff like going to the concert, partying all night, and then running the Honolulu Marathon at 5:00 AM on 10-DEC plain nutz if you ax me!
not questioning your skills, but i'm thinking you may be rusty after 8 years... Winter swells in the Country are a whole different world-- even to those familiar to the sport. it was many years ago, but I still remember my first surf experience at Ehukai... it was 6-8' and it was pure adrenaline & primal "fear" that gnawed at my gut each time i saw the sets rolling behind the waves i duckdived thru... All my 10 years of prior experience (got started when i was 9) had been in Town, with a handfull of sessions out West. Nothing compares to the constant pull of the currents and the hollow breaking of each wave at Pipes. My buddy I was out with that day was of decent skill, and he said at the end of the day he almost had to call for the lifeguard to come 'n get him ...Woah! talk about flashback! ok, back on subject...posted a word.doc in this prior thread... pretty sure none of the places have closed shop.

I'll approach anything smaller than 4-6' sand break. I rarely see anything bigger then 4-6' back in east coast FL. Ehukai or Sandy's are more for me from what I recall. Pipe, Sunset...I'll just spectate. Amazing how those guys make the drop at Pipe.
