Rain+cold air intake question

Okay guys got a question for you. First off I live in kaneohe where it rains pretty much everyday. As I was driving home from work today it started pouring heavily, and I was thinking should I be worried about hydrolocking the engine? After spending countless days and nights on this website and reading the threads on hydrolock, I'm starting to think I should throw a non cold air intake. Do you guys think this is a good idea or am I just being to paranoid?

nah - rain wont do anything at all

you really have to dip the intake into a puddle of water, then the water will get sucked in ... thats when you're gonna have problems.

even a small splash of water will be fine

actually, i'd worry. why? because of where you live. the placement of the filter on cai's are quite low, and easily accessible for rain from "moke" downpours much like today/yesterday. you may not realize it, but if it's raining hard enough, the rain will gang up on your filter. depending on how long you spend driving in the fury, it's possible. yes, if you drive through lake mapunapuna, you'll hydro your whip indeed.

u should try to find a bypass valve for ur CAI like tha nismo set up...AEM has a separate bypass valve too...but i wouldnt worry too much...just watch ur speed over puddles!..never know how deep they are! =)

I do believe I have some sort of bypass not sure though. I know I have a foam piece in between the pipes. How exactly does that work though?

Hell I'd worry about hydrolocking a stock setup at the Ahua Street intersection.

I had a Nismo CAI. Still have it actually, just not on the car anymore. We dyno'd some Gs in Orlando and a stock 6MT coupe made more hp than a 6MT coupe with a CAI.
