30K Service

Went to Jiffy Lube for oil change today, was told my 30K service is up. Jiffy Lube is charging about $100 for transmission fluid flush and change. Called up Infiniti and asked about their 30K service, they want almost $300 for a whole list of things (wasn't listening too carefully, was driving), but does not include changing transmission fluid.

Where did you guys go for 30K service? Is it really necessary to have it done at the dealership?

I believe the 30k service is about 500.

The stealership will definitely charge you a lot more than Jiffy Lube. You do need to be careful what kind of fluid they use, as stated by Five O. There are some Infiniti service managers that will not honor your warantee if your tranny goes out and you didn't use the fluid they recommend. The 30k check is in your maintenance manual and most of it is checking fluid levels and belts.

Thanks for the tips. But the thing is that Infiniti will not do any thing on tranny (include tranny fluid change) in their 30K service. Does that make any sense, I mean for the amount of money they're charging?

The "30k" service usually does include draining & refilling (with new, of course) trans fluid. However, that is NOT the same as a Trans "flush"...where they will literally flush out alot of deposits & debris that regular use will create in your trans.

I'm a Service Advisor @ a Nissan dealership in Southern CA...our 30k Service costs $289.95...that's a pretty standard amount.

Jiffy Lube is definitely cheaper...but, if I'm not mistaken, I think they're just quoting you for the Trans. flush - NOT the 30k Service.

You get what you pay for. Its like buying an expensive, high-performance car...then putting in the cheapest gas you can find.
