Coming there soon.....what to expect???
So.....I just came on orders to be stationed at Hickam AFB just outside of Honolulu in a few months. Pretty kick-booty assignment for an Army guy, lol. Me and the wife will be bringing both cars down, the G and the Tib. It is likely where I will really get into modding the G at.
Anyways....I was curious what to expect when getting there. Are there any good "car clubs", do you guys have a lot of meets, what do I need to do to prepare for the vehicle inspections (mainly meaning for my Tib, as it is the heavily modded one of the two)........that kind of stuff..... Anything that can be useful to me.
I'm in the desert now, and supposed to be headed that way around the September-October timeframe. I can't wait to get there!!!!

if you're open minded, easy going, and down for whatever, get at me when u get here. i work right next door on pearl. as far as modded Tibs....not much. however, my brother finished a customers widebody one 2 months ago. the guy is also in the military. haven't heard/seen it in a minute though. oh yeah, we have this potent law about Recon. do a search on google for hawaii recon laws. do you know where you will be staying/living? that can play a role with modding the car. certain places are prone to pricey tickets.

Looking at your sig, your tib will never ever in a million years pass recon. Nah maybe not in a million years but i'll cost you. As far as modding the G +1 goes to sonics. They did a ton of FI systems as well as other things on these cars.
Yeah..the Tib is getting a race longblock and a stage2 supercharger installed right now.....here's my cardomain....http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2264923
How is it gonna cost me? Will I have to change a lot, or just pay a lot?
And yeah, I am open minded, easy going, and down for whatever man.....me and the wife both are.

Which one that JL worked on? I have only seen the Inifinty tib....I actually owned pieces of that one, lol. But all my sound will be coming out of JL equipment when the new install is done.....I have 2 12W7's, 2 1000/1's, a 300/4, 2 sets of XR650 components, and a set of the XR653 3-ways

parts in general. most shops here try to get you the best deal possible. stay AWAY from Ron's auto like it was a plague. Reputable speed shops are MunkyWurks and Sonics. Endless Garage is a good shop too, but it's usually on a "who you know" kind of basis. I inlcuded endless because the work exclusively with Justin Izumi, a very repuatable tuner. Revision Audio is a pretty good wheel shop, never been there but, a lot of the Hawaii members praise them. One of their guys frequent these forums.
Some things are just cheaper to go the mainland route, now that Hawaii is on the "Ground Shipping" list for UPS and FedEx it makes paying for shipping a little easier to fess up with.

lol.....I hear ya. I have an APO address for shipping too, so that helps sometimes. Are the actual tuning shops good? My tib is getting boosted right now, and I'm sure I may need a good tune every now and then. I am also debating on adding some boost to the G. THe wife wants us to start with performance rather than appearance, as I did on mine. I think it's a good idea too.
Yeah...she is pretty cool...most of the time, lol. She works at the Chevy dealership where we bought the G (used). We got a hell of a price. She'll more than likely be transfering to a local Chevy dealership there...any big giid ones?
