Parent's Basement Flooded Last Night

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. Long story short, parents and sister went to Japan and Hong Kong for two weeks so I'm left watching my folks house. Didn't come home until about 3AM last night after partying and watching the lightning show out at Makapuu and the South Shore lookouts. Well I go to grab some stuff from downstairs and the place is flooded. I'm talking knee high muddy water. Any papers and work docs my parents had in bins on the ground...GONE. File cabinets...bottom two drawers = gone. Anything made of paper...DEAD. Luckily all the electronics were on tables so nothing major was lost. Some clothes and a few PS2 games I had stored there were the only major casualties but the basement is fcuked and I definitely wont be going in on my days off this week as I want to try to clean up as much as I can before the rents get back this Friday. Sucks man. I don't wanna call them and ruin their trip so I'm gonna do as much as I can before they get back. I took pics which I'll post tomorrow as I know as much as you folks are sympathizing..."this thread is worthless w/o pics" right?

Anyway, at least it's only material stuff. No one was hurt and the animals are all ok. Had to call the Fire Dept this morning to have them pump my basement. As for the cause... Well it's rained hard before but the basement has never flooded. The reason everything went to hell was the parking lot next door to my parent's houses. They live next door to the parking lot behind 3660 On The Rise. Turns out some fat, lazy mothereffer didn't clean out the storm drain and the water backed up and came over my parent's wall, flooded the back yard and spilled over the drainage passages under the house and into the basement. ****...that...s**t. Took pictures before HFD told 3660 maintenance that they needed to unclog their storm drain because I know my Mom will want to whomp on someone when she gets back. Fcuked up when you think that all of this could have been prevented had some douchebag done his job. During the second coming of rain tonight I drove around the block and into the parking lot to check out the drain. A little bit of trash there but overall it's doing its job and diverting the water. Seeing as the rain was just as bad tonight as it was last night and seeing how well the drain was working tonight and knowing how clogged and backed up it was this morning, I KNOW it was the spillover from the lot that caused the flood of my folk's basement. Not to mention I took pictures of the water coming over the wall.

So the question remains, once the basement is cleaned out and new furniture is bought for my rents by 3660, WHO WANTS TO DO DONUTS IN THE PARKING LOT?

*Edit* Pics Are Up

Fak I never like upload the pics. Makes me sick just looking at it.

The damage

The Cause. Hard to see as I apparently focused on the leaves as opposed to the water. What a n00b.

Oh man that sucks to hear. Yeah my power went out last nite at like 1 am while I was kicking my friends *** in warhawk. But, as a bio student I must say make sure you don't get cuts and they don't get infected. Think flesh eating bacteria which a higher number of people conctracted when it was storming a few years back. Also styph infections suck. As far as the ps2 games go just get a ps3 and call of duty 4 so me and luis can kill you online lol.

If you find any major damage I would think that 3660 would be liable if the problem was caused by their drain. If you took pictures of it and the water coming over the wall you might want to look into it if you guys have to pay for anything big as a result.

Pics are up. I just noticed that I should have taken pics of the clogged drain before or while the guy was raking up. You can see that it was clogged in the pics where it's still raining but the water was so high it's hard to see the trash at the bottom (which would obviously help in justifying our claim). I might go check on it tomorrow to see if they're maintaining it or if they're letting it go to s**t again.

Damn. That's allot of water.

Someone is obsessed with INFINITI 2 Gs and FX

You should have taken a picture when it rained and drain worked to show the diff.

Good luck.
