Just Bought A PS3 and COD4

COD4 is a killer... literally
i had fun playing, however, my PS3 is out of commission-- does not power up. me thinks it was COD4 that caused my PS3 to go kaput. here's what happened, feel free to offer troubleshooting solutions...
model: 60 GB
purchased: May 2007 from Best Buy
started Single Player campaign. Played all the way through-- took me 3 days of limited playing time. Had a blast!
Multiplayer Day 1: decided to try my luck online... system said i need to update to latest firmware. no problem. downloaded & installed. Began Multiplayer. Figured nobody would want to have a noob on their team, so i played free-for-all deathmatch. big mistake! Colonels & 1-star Generals handed me my ****!
died 12 times and did not kill a single person in return. quit in disgust.
Multiplayer Day 2: built up enough courage to try Multiplayer again. avoided free-for-all like the plague. after an hour-and-a-half, finally got to rank 4 with ability to create a class.
Multiplayer Day 3: jumped online for another half-hour, got to rank 6 and unlocked challenges. i think i was getting the hang of this
Multiplayer Day 4: went into my barracks and saw i was at rank 4.
WTF? played a bit to get back to rank 6, then called it quits. the fact that i jumped back in rank bothered me, so i did some googling... some theory about sometimes PSN does not synch with the most current COD4 profile & will pull up a previous profile...
Multiplayer Day 5: went into barracks, showed i was back to rank 4 again.
went back to the main menu, switched to Single Player thinking i could try to get my more recent profile pulled up this way... went back into Multiplayer and my barracks. still showed rank 4. dammit. let's try it again. went back to the Single Player menu, then back into Multiplayer. at this point the PS3 shut down.
I was like "O Shiet, WTF!" saw the red light was on at the bottom right of the PS3. pushed the power button, and it started powering up, then all went black. no power. dead. FOCK!
tried a different power outlet, switching the back on/off, holding down the power "button" for 30 seconds, trying again after several days... all to no avail.
called Sony PS3 customer service (800-345-7669) and they will be sending me a package to mail my PS3 to them in. They will send me back a 60GB model when they get mine. probably a refurb, but i don't mind as long as the bugger works and lasts for a long time. still waiting on the package, though. Oh, I still think the game is hella fun. Too bad it killed my console!
BTW, there is a thread on COD4 for PS3 on FH with local peeps' PSN Tags. I'd post a link, but not sure if there are non-808 spammers out there.
