OEM Tires?

Hey guys I have a 05 coupe with the 19''wheels.( OEM ) After about three years my rears are wearing out fast, but the fronts are still ok maybe 50%threading. Car is all stock and it's not drop. I took it to the dealer and they told me that they need to be replace soon. They quoted me $1600.00 for all four tires not including labor, tax, and on top of that I needed an alignment after. So I'd say close to 2 grand. That's just too much for a brand new tires.
Is there any shops out there who carries these sizes for cheaper price? I know I tried calling Lex Brodie, Goodyear, Sears, etc....and they don't carry these sizes. Maybe some of you guys know a tire place who carries these for cheaper. Mahalo.

i went to the dealer about 3 months ago and i payed a total of 1300 i think. I also have a 05 coup. There is no other place that carrys our type of size of tires exept for the dealer. I would order online and get those prices. One reason why there so expensive is because they are run flat tires.

Thanks for the info. So $1300 total including install, shop charges, tax, and wheel alignment too? I just got a quote today for $1600 just four tires and not installed. $90.00 for alignment.

I'm with aleok. The G is an excellent machine, but it's not an exotic. I can't imagine spending $300+ for each tire on a $30k car. I'm running Nexen 18" tires on my Maxima (never heard of them? well I hadn't either) which were half the cost of the brands that dump tons of $$$ into advertising. Road noise, tread-wear, high speed stability - I couldn't be happier. I've also used Fuzion tires on another vehicle and have really had excellent results with avoiding the major tire companies.

Tirerack has Kuhmho's for $160-ish, and I'd hardly consider that a generic brand. With shipping to your world, you should come out way ahead of the stealership price.

Go to tirerack.com you will find 19" a lot cheaper shipping to Hawaii is $100 and you'll have them in 1 week. Never heard of the coupe tires being runflat who started that rumor... there bridgestone protenza summer tires.

Yeah +1 for tirerack.com or edgeracing.com (went with edgeracing because tirerack didn't have falkens). Under $200 for each tire, quieter then the stock RE050, and very good performer for the price.

Wait a minute the stock RE050 that came with the 05 19" G's is not a Runflat tire. Is Infiniti Hawaii quoting a direct replacement or is that $1600 price for the Runflats.

$1600 just for four Bridgestone tires. I got the estimate on paper. The $1600 don't include the installation, mounting, balance, shop charges, taxes of course and all that bullcrap, and they said it needs an alignment after. Alignment is separate, that's an additional $89.00! So I'm guessing I'll be paying $2000 plus just to change tires which I'm not ready to pay. I'll just drive the car until all four tires look like slicks no more thread left.

Well....Infiniti is actually not that far off the truth. The cheapest tire that you can get in MATCHING pairs from TireRack are the Kumho Ecsta SPT at 154 for the front and 170 for the rear in 225/40 19 and 245/40 19 respectively. Pilot Sports are going to be replaced by the Pilot Sports 2 maybe...there is a closeout on the 240/40 19 size. Prices are 328 and 288 (rear) for the OEM versions. The PSII's are 341 and 301 front and rears respectively. So....TireRack would be 1232.00 without shipping...then add in shipping of 105.38..total is 1337.38. Infiniti wanted 1600, difference of 262.62 but that would cover about 65 per tire for mount, balance, and of course a slight markup for profit. By the time that you got the same on your car...you might save about maybe 100 or thereabouts. You can get the Kumho's for 766.62 shipped...then add in about another 80 for the mont and balance at 20 per tire at least....so 846.62 thereabouts.

Now you might be about to get cheaper tires...but then it would possibly be mismatched. It would work....but now you will have a different tire and road grip relationship between the front and rear....and left and right versus all being the same. The tread pattern, the tire wear, material construction, and other factors...will make a change in the way the car handles under load and different weather conditions. This is under the assumption that you are going to get the cheapest front tire and the cheapest rear tire regardless of matching the set.

To be devils advocate and all....well since everyone here feels that they are excellent drivers...then maybe "you" wont feel the difference or you can handle the change....whatever people feel fit...so be it. I am just saying that there is a difference.

Never the less. The dealership can supply (correct me if I am wrong) only tires that are obtainable from whatever distribution channels that they are allowed to (hello peoples...this is still corporate America) and they will have to be OEM matches as well due to liabilities and warranty issues mandated from said corporation...what have you.

Thus....the conclusion to the original post...yes the prices are high...but they are what are recommended by Infiniti and what Infiniti of Honolulu probably has to follow. The cost is not too far off of what it would be to bring it in from TireRack. You might be able to go to Costo...but if something happens then you will be dealing with them versus the dealership...cant say if that is better or worse. Either way you choose......it still would be highly recommended that you get them alligned as well.

Hmmmmmmm....just noticed that you mentioned that the costs dont include the mount and balance. Well...suggestion is that you need to talk to your tech and see what other alternatives you have and maybe they can work with you.
