Where to mount & balance?

After an 11 week wait, my Iforged Aeros should be delivered to my door in the next couple of days. Where'd you guys go to mount & balance that's good, that won't scratch or damage my rims?

To make the long sotry short... I wouldn't recommend Eurosport (Scuffed the lip on 3 out of 4 rims) or Pacific Automotive (damaged one rim pretty bad)...

Although others have gone to them with no problems thats just my experience...

if Eurosport is closest for you, let me know and i'll go with you. or you can hit up Dj's Tire in waipahu. Another place is revolution motorsports.

Re: Where to mount & balance?

i've never had any problems with eurosports. they supposively have the "good" tire machine to prevent scratches on the lip of the wheel.

Thanks, guys
Do you not have any kind of recourse when this type of thing happens? I know that after waiting as long as I have, if something goes wrong at this point, I'll go postal. Don't they have some sort of responsibility/liability to not damage your goods?

Re: Where to mount & balance?

I wouldn't trust anyone BUT Eurosport. Never had any problems with them before. The other guys usually have some rookie trying to mount the wheels. If you have any reservations, talk to the owner. His name is Bob and tell him that you just bought it and that it's like $3,500 and you don't want any marks on it.

As far as recourse, I'm actually studying for my law exam right now. The merchant always has an implied duty to exercise care and to return the goods to you in the same condition. The thing is, if they do screw it up, it's their fault, but if they deny it, you have to take them to small claims court and the hassle just might not be worth it.

Re: Where to mount & balance?

This is sooo funny,..in a sarcastic way (I'm sorry). Reason being that ShikoKaon has an ongoing issue with Eurosport and they have not been very cooperative in dealing with the situation nor excersizing due diligence in remedying the situation. That matter will be in small claims court soon I believe. Problem is that he has been following all of the advice of Action Line, and still Eurosports will not correct the problem. These are on CUSTOM made rims and took like 6 months to come in, so yes, he is a little pissed. No matter what is said between the two sides,...all I can say is that on brand spanking never been used rims, there are scuff marks and missing clear coat on a section of the lip and it was there only after it came back from Eurosports. Perhaps this could not have been avoided,..or he was unfortunately one of the very few that this happened to,...but the matter of fact is that they have not corrected the problem for him, so what makes everyone else believe that they will correct it for them as well? And if they will only correct it because they know your cousin, or your bother, then where does that leave everyone else...and what does that say about their business integrity? That if you want good work done you will have to know someone, or them personally? So much for business ethics.

Price of the rims should not matter as well. Its not their property, someone paid hard working money for it, so whether it was a $800.00 set of rims or a $8000.00 set of rims, the same care and respect should have gone into the work on it. Someone had to work hard to come up with that cash.

Maybe, ...where-ever you decide to go, you will have to just take the risk and hope for the best.

However as a after thought..............

What I think (if anyone cares) is that you can mount the tire on a bare rim fairly easy the first time. This is with the assumption of low (35-30) profile tires. However, when you have to remove the old tire and remount another one,...I think that that is when the minor little scratches come into play and all. Unless we can go and buy one of those machines...we can only go to hopefully...reputable places that are known to have low occurances and when it does happen..they can and will correct it properly and promptly.

Re: Where to mount & balance?

Thats my beef with Eurosport...
I paid WAY TOO much money for my rims, for them to just go ahead and scratch 3 out of the 4 the same day I got them from FedEX.

They scratched it and blamed it on the quality of my rims... BS!!! Its not like my rims are from Walmart... any attempted "repairs" were done as "good customer service", but the rims have NOT been repaired and i got attitude from the GM, and the owner towards having my rims repaired properly at their expense since THEY SCRATCHED them.

Re: Where to mount & balance?

You know, it's really unfortunate that there's no place on the island that consistently does quality, reputable work - a shop where customer service is the main goal.
This is how I treat my clients, even the ones who don't deserve it. I'm careful to do my best work for them and if a mistake has been made by me or anyone else, I fix it, even if I have to take a loss. I once had to pay over $5000 to close a loan. Not I-didn't-make-$5000. I had to pay out of pocket.
Am I the only one left in this world who thinks the way I do?

Re: Where to mount & balance?

Rob...its great that you think and work with that integrity in mind. Most people have forgotten what it took to build up the business and have the the attitude of "its just a job" versus realizing that their names and reputation are what goes out to the community. People are willing to pay more for proven quality work and they understand that mistakes happen. The question what are the companies going to do when they do happen.

However, the whole point of the forums and all is to share information, experiences, and knowledge. With all the feedback that people get when asking a question, for better or worse, I think that this is getting accomplished. Its nice to see that people are willing to share experiences and information for the benefit of others. I hope that this continues in a civilized and informative way. We need to continue to share the "Aloha Spirit".....after all we are in the Hawaii forums. =)

Re: Where to mount & balance?

Don't get me wrong, I've got no porblem with anyone here. I'm directing my comments toward shops who screw up and then act like it's not their responsibility to fix THEIR mistake. They're supposed to be professionals for God's sake! Anyway, not pointing any fingers at any members here, in any way, shape or form.
I guess I was just disappointed to see that no shop out there has satisfied all of their customers. It's usually not that hard to do - do unto others, as the saying goes. And by the way, thanks for all the feedback in case I forgot to say so earlier!

Re: Where to mount & balance?

Rob.. LOL =) Sorry maybe I should have been a little more clear. I was actually saying thank you to you for being up and up as a person as well as a person in the "business" world. Never thought that you were saying anything negative. Sorry for the confusion there.

The other part was just a thought that considering that things sometimes do go wrong for others and all,..and I was just mentioning that it was good that we communicate on these boards to share our experiences and knowledge pool with the others.

Re: Where to mount & balance?

Oh, okay my bad. I was wondering how I offended anyone, didn't think I did but never hurts to apologize.
So problem solved, I got Hypersport to do my mount & balance, turned out perfect! My father knows Travis from waaay back when he first opened up shop and he's always done great work. Anyone need anything, go see Travis and he'll hook you up.
See you guys around
