Hawaii Vacation recommendations... (^_^)

Hello fellow G owners,

I'm planning to visit Hawaii for vacation with the wife and we've only been there once to Waikiki about 4 years ago. We're looking for a place to chill, spa, not too "touristy", and have some fun activities.

We're only staying for 5 days just to get away from LA. I have people recommending Maui (Wailea, Ka'anapali - westin, sheraton) and others saying Oahu, and Kauai.

Not really doing anything too hardcore (rock climbing, bungee, horseback riding, drifting, hand gliding, etc...)

I'm also searching online as well but there are tons of reviews and decided to ask you guys since you live there. Then again, you guys most likely have a different point of view since you aren't "vacationing" there.

Again, this is more for leisurely activities and relaxing from LA / work / stress ... etc. (plus, the wife is almost 5 months preggers... yikes, so I better enjoy this before it's "GAME OVER" and I'm on father duty in December.... (sniff-sniff)

Thanks in advance!

there really is nothing to do on maui and the big island, has some nice beaches though, but all the islands have nice beaches. going to kauai is like going back in time, pretty crazy, the hurricane set them back about 30 years. maybe I'm just biased to oahu? but dont stay at waikiki, you should stay at Koolina. nice place on the west side! cheaper then waikiki and is basically the same thing

as far as places to go, if you stay on oahu, you should go to Keawaula (otherwise known as Yokohamas) al you have to do is keep driving west the road will end and this is the beach. just dont park at the end of the road, or youll come back to a striped car! no jokes. just park with the rest of the cars so you can see your car!

the best sunset in the islands

heres more

To get from the airport to Koolina, I recommend this route.

Give it about 4 hours, but it hits most of the best driving roads on Oahu.

Waikoloa on the Big Island, went there a couple weeks ago and by far the best resort I could imagine.

+1 for Koolina. Great place to recharge and get you mind peaceful like before fatherhood. Plus it's like minutes from Waiks if you wanna do the tourist thing or to any a number of malls if you want to do the shoppin' thing. Waikele being the closest. It's a great resort/spa and your pretty much in the middle of where ever you want to get to for a little fun and escape from the HOTEL. Hope you enjoy your stay in Hawaii. If you're in the Downtown/ Aloha Tower area during your stay I'll buy you lunch at my cafe. PM me for the details. A little aloha for a fellow G Driver.

I stayed here when it was a Hilton property. It is on the North shore of Oahu, far away from the Waikiki scene, but just a bus ride away.
