Well as all ya know im doing a V8 swap into my G35, im around 65% into it, just waiting on the transmission (T56), to start throwing in the V8, Basically in the point that if i continue theres no return. Now this is my issue where i would like advice/ recommendacions. I transfer to Florida in 4 months. I still have to get the tranny shipped to hawaii, install everything and order the remainding parts because of measurements ansd stuff like that cause of costums stuff. thing is idk if i finish in time, its gonna cost me around $2250 to ship a none running car to Florida. Or buy a Used engine here get the car running again ship it and finish it up in Florida.... Wat ya think?
Either Way im gonna do the project, My VQ engine right now is not running so idk if to take it to a shop or just get a Used 1?
Any1 knws of a good mech? or has a engine for sale?
Thanks, in advance...
If ya wanna see the end result of this swap go to youtube LS2 350Z... Thats the guy helpin me out

Any idea what's wrong with your engine?
A used engine plus the time to install it and get it running will cost you more than the 2250 to ship the car as-is.
How much do you think it's going to cost to get the old engine running?
Would it be worth it in the long-run if you suck up the 2250 but you get to continue your project over the next 4 months and it will be that much closer to completion when it arrives in Florida with a tranny waiting? Otherwise you're not only out the dollars to install everything and get it running but you also now have to take everything out...again...so you can put the V8 in.

well the engine i hav now, i was running 9 psi and blew had oil all over the engine bay which ignited also, when i towed the car home it turned over but it sounded hella weak and almost no power to stay on... thing is that me being in the military i dnt hav that much time workin on it, in the military shop wit there rules and closing @ 8pm...
i found a used engine here for 2 grand i knw i can do the quick swap...

are they considering it a DITY move becassue if that is the Case maybe the military will eat some of the cost of shipping so it wouldent be that bad.
But i think it would be better do to what meatshackle sugested and finish it in FL.
then you also have to ship your project parts too which will probably cost a bit too.

I think you should talk to the guys who will help ship that car for you. Maybe some of those boys will do ye olde manual push of the car should you happen to slip them a couple of cases of beer.
Trying to get everything running in the time you need to ship is going to be a tight schedule.
The other thing to do is part out what you have so far and buy something running up there. So long as you aren't too far into the interior of the car sounds like it might be easier to do that way? Dunno man, not an easy decision here.

You need guys that know how to work on LSX motors. I can reccomend a shop, AutoPRO 596-8259. they specialize in corvettes and very versed at GM motors.
