i thought changing the oil was easy. only thing that sucked was taking off the plastic guard under the car. you can probably change the oil with it on, but it was my first time....so i didn't really think about doing it with the cover on.

if the oil filter's on too tight, puncture the oil filter with a screw driver, perpendicular to it's mounting and use it for leverage to remove the filter. or you could just invest in a strap/band wrench from craftsman for future oil changes.

do not buy fram (do some google searching on the disadvantages of using fram), buy either NAPA Gold or Nissan oil filters. Next best mineral to synthetic oil is Castrol GTX 5W-30. Checkers sells them pretty cheap. If you buy your oil filter elsewhere...it's advisable to change your oil pan drain plug gasket (washer) for a new one. just go to the parts at the dealer and pick up a new one...shouldnt cost you more than $1.00. If you're at NAPA, see if they have any magnetic drain plugs - it's just extra insurance against metal shavings. and check out these filter magnets. I had them when I had my buick...i should've removed them before i sold the car. argh.

-just some suggestions.

I leave the plastic tray on and just reach in the hole.

Be prepared to sweat on your first oil change....I think they use a gorilla to install the factory filter. Took me a while to get it off, fricken thing was stuck like you wouldn't believe.
