How you gonna ack?

I posted up a story on Forumshawaii.net about my friend getting the low end of the deal at Cycle City.

Story goes that he goes to cycle city not getting what he expected. His deal was about getting a brand new bike, upon signing papers...he was brought forth a ZX10R, noticing flaws like a dirty swing arm, tire needles worn down, and finally finding that the odometer read 104 miles. He bitches at the sales causing a scene (unwanted) swearing like a madman. I would hate to be on the short end, but I wouldnt bust out yelling like he did. Ted Davis, owner of RevTek admitted that he was wrong in his action that day. But it takes two to tango, CC did or said something that must've aggrevated him in his actions. It takes a lot to get Ted pissed and raging.

In cycle city's terms (I guess with all other dealerships) the motorcycle is still considered "new" till 499miles. at 500 miles, the dealership must sell the bike as a demo. cycle city explains that is typical of all dealerships.

The reason why the bike had that much miles on it was because it was used on a photo shoot. 100 miles for a photo shoot? maybe a video shoot...maybe. now, upon finding more information on the ordeal..i went straight to the source, cycle city talking with Layden Paulino (parts manager). He said that it was used for a photo shoot, and trucked on location to Sandy Beach and Makapu'u. Still that didnt match up to why it had so many miles considering it's a new bike. Another friend talks to Layden saying it was rode there by one of Cycle City's guys, by the name of Kenji. So where did all those miles come from? various people were pointed out to Ted as to who has rode the bike. Ted knowingly assumes that those guys wouldnt take it easy on the bike. Hell, I used to work for Tony Honda back when they were by Pearl Ridge. The sales people used to drive the new cars on or off the new car lot, like they stole it. well..about the 100-some miles, I would never go on to know about it. But it smelled fishy that two bikes were sold, but when I got there, looking at the three ZX10Rs' none of them were sold (or didnt appear to be).

Also Layden wrote that 2 of the tree ZX10Rs on the floor were sold, leaving that only ZX10R available. When I went over to talk it over with Layden, none of the ZX10Rs were sold, or at least labelled or tagged "sold". If you've ever been to a motorcycle salesroom, a lot of the sold motorcycles have a tag..."sold". In this case, none of the bikes had them...or I may have missed them...but they're usually within open view to preven anyone sitting on the bike(s) that have been sold.

Cycle City's gripe wasnt just about Teds decission in aggrevation but to my thread regarding the incident. They said that it shouldnt have been made public, others would write that I should get the story straight before I made that thread. I made the effort to further see what the "other side" (cycle city) had to say in regards to the business between Ted and Cycle City. Those who've given an open opinion sided Cycle City, but never gave the same thought as I to talk to Ted regarding his side of the story. I even wrote that down...and nothing direct from other opinionated people other than the "principle" wrote against me any further.

I know I shouldnt have wrote about incident and made it public (I've even wrote that it was my fault for causing a forum ruckus), but there are further disputes such as what I just wrote in this log that Cycle City is ignoring. Possibly they dont want to hear it, me playing detective. They say I have lacked in information, yet they dont want to give it when I ask. sucks.

The persons involved in the thread are genuinely good people. But the business they're involved in, IMO are shady muthaf*ckaz! I'll never do business withe Cycle City, never have...never will. When it comes to one's money...everyone get's greedy.

moral?
whatever you buy, take a step back and overlook what you're going to purchase...it may not be what it seems.

Sorry for the long write.
Some may say this shouldnt be shared, I say people should learn from this.

good write up Chris. Ted is a good man. business minded, but a good, cool, funny guy. i agree with your feelings toward CC as well. been there and have got the fishy story from them a lot of times regarding various issues. i'm glad i haven't purchased a bike from them.
