Crap! Rear ended this morning.

I got rear-ended by a big caddilac sts this morning. As you can see by the picture, he somehow also got under my car and did a job on the exhaust and possibly the rear-end and suspension arms. Luckily he has insurance.

But besides my brand new car, my back, neck, and shoulders are all hurting. I am afraid I will be pretty sore tommorrow morning.

And all my friends are telling me that the car will never be the same or worth the same ever again. Some friends I have kicking me when I'm down. But geez, I think they're right.

Can you guys help me with some advice and a good body shop?

Thanks.

Paul

get an estimate...and IF he's willing to pay without reporting it to the insurance then your car won't be reported as being in an accident. Just a thought i guess...

Damn I feel for you Paul... Sorry to hear that...

I'm glad that your ok tho... was it a hard crash? and did your active head rest deploy?

If he didn't hit you that hard then your car should be fine but getting a replacement bumber quickly could be hard.

I'm not sure if my headrest did anything. But the crash was hard. His caddy was way worse than my G. His hood, grill, bumpers, fenders, headlights, and radiator are toast. Strangely though, his airbags didn't go.

hey paul, sorry to hear about the accident! but yeah, the main thing is that you're ok... if i were you, i'd sue that bastard AND his insurance company! was that guy tailing you, cuz if he was... well, if this guy balks about paying you or whatever, then at least it's clear to the insurance company that it was his fault, if it ever goes down that way. i hope he's not only compensating you for your car but also for your injuries and trauma. something like this happened to my friend a while ago and this lady in a benz was almost going to drive away when she asked for payment for the benz-inflicted damage, and so she threatened to call the cops on her and the benz lady gave her a couple grand cash for about sub-$1k in damages.

anyways, keep us updated. take care and don't just see a doctor but a chiropractor as well!

Thanks for the concern guys. Actually, the guy was nice and not tailing me. The guy in front of me slammed his brakes and I was able to brake in time because the G has incredible brakes. Unfortunately the caddy sts does not. I could see him in the rear view mirror trying desparately to stop. It was almost slow motion.

I don't want to sue him or anything. Just hope that my car is fixed good as new, if possible. And for my back pain to go away so I can golf this weekend. And we both already reported to our respective insurance companies so settling outside of insurance is out.

Since I am gonna need a new exhaust and bumper for sure, maybe aftermarket exhaust and bumper would be an alternative.

I'll give Mike at GX auto and National Fender a call. Keep the recommendations coming.

Thanks again.

^ check PM!

also, same thing happened to me during the first week of owning my *****. not as serious as yours though. since you have to get a new exhaust, i'd still get the OEM one, and purchase an aftermarket one on your own just in case you decide not to keep the car months/years down the road. you'll be able to go back to OEM, and sell the aftermarket exhaust. i've done this with all my previous cars. from the looks of your pic, i don't believe there would be any suspension, or sub-frame damage. i know the crush zones might have come into play though (smaller trunk space?).

Sorry to hear about the accident and hope you are OK.

For repairs I would suggest Autotech. They are just off Waiakamilo Rd.

Sorry to hear about the accident and like everyone else, glad to hear you're okay. On the insurance note, you don't have to go through insurance just because it was reported, he can still pay out of pocket. The reason you may want to go through insurance is because of the physical damage to yourself. If he pays you, that's it, you have to sue him later on for your pain and suffering. Going through insurance allows you to get treatment for your aches and pains and still be covered for it, but it is important to go see a dr now, if you don't go, then basically it's too bad.
Again, sorry about the G, take it easy.

^ word! i went through insurance in my Jan '04 accident with my other car and juiced the haole guy for medical bills! it's been over a year, and because i didn't sue the case was closed on the insurance side. now i have to purchase all these pain/muscle relaxant medicines on my own.
