Aloha from Ohio

Hey fellas,

Finally got my G this past Tuesday....finally! Just to recap, I dropped it off in Kona on July 15th, arrived on Horizon Lines at Long Beach August 3rd. Stayed in LA seemingly forever and finally was trucked over to Ohio dropped off to my door this past Tuesday.

The one good thing about DAS (Depedable auto shippers) was that you could track where your car was at through their GPS tracking system. I followed the car through Utah, Wyoming, nebraska, illinois, indiana. Pretty cool.

The DAMAGE....
Not too bad.....95% of it on the front bumper of course. a few 2-3" superficial scrapes below the license plate frame on the bumper edge. a larger deeper 3" gouge on that edge on the drivers side. a few chips on the bumper side of both front wheel wells. Not noticable unless you look closely or examine the front bumper edge under the license plate frame.

The RESULT....
Since I opted to purchase $20K in damage insurance, the adjuster came out yesterday and took pics of the damage and took a bunch of notes which he'll plug into his damage computer program and come up with a $$ number. Not sure whether they'll tell me to take it to a shop and send DAS the bill or if they'll just cut me a check for the damage. BUT, DAS was very helpful and nice about the damage claim, not resistant at all!

BTW, all the damage occured from Kona to Long Beach with Kona Trans and Horizon Lines, not the DAS transcontinental shipper.

I'll keep you posted on the progress. I'll try and post some pics later but I only have dial-up ISP out here in the country so my uploads are slowwwwww....lol

Hey Doc,

It's good to hear that the car, for the most part, made it there in one piece. GPS tracking huh, i'd be so tempted to drive to the truck just to check it out lol...

Post the pics up when you can, i'd like to see the damages.

Hey docron, I'm glad to hear you don't need to suffer from separation anxiety any longer. How are you settling in to your new digs?

Great! Thanks for asking. I am slowly unpacking here at the house and trying to furnish each room slowly. I've been to Lowes at least 3X/week in the last 3 weeks. My 2 acre yard takes 2.5 hours to mow with my trusty 26hp 50" blade Cub Cadet and another 2 hours to weed whack/edge.

My only fear now it hitting deer on these country roads at night. I have those deer warning whistles mounted behind my front grille so we'll see how well that works. Going 80mph on country roads is nice, country cruising.....

I have the only G35 coupe in my town and the town my hospital is in so I always get some nice looks from everyone I drive by. I've been here only 3 weeks and the county sheriffs and fire/EMS all know my car already....lol. People have a hard time believing my exhaust note is completely stock.... I also am averaging 21-23 miles/gallon here since it is all country road driving which is real nice for the gas price crisis these days.

What I have realized is, though, I will definately need a 4WD/AWD vehicle for the winter on these roads. Being that there are millions of car dealerships up here for every make, its nice to pick and choose the best deal. My sights are set on leasing a 2005 Dodge Ram QuadCab 5.7L HEMI 4WD. Since the end of the year is nearing, there's a lot of nice deals for the 05's.

2 acres.....................you need to find some neighborhood kids to do that yardwork.

I think the Dodge will be fun, it's completely different thing from the G, but thats not going to be fun to fill the gas tank.

Anyway, good to hear from you doc.
