First of all... I've been checking out this forum ever since I knew I wanted to buy a G, but this is the first time posting anything. I always see a bunch of other G owners on the road, and I think it's cool that we wave or flash shaka signs like we're in our own elite group or something. Well, I bought my 2005 Black 6MT G35 Sport Coupe just 4 months ago, and after today my brand new G is no longer new. Me and my brother were in the G sitting in the Foodland Ewa Beach parking lot waiting for a spot to open up for a good 5 minutes, and I see this mini-van in another stall backing up. I must have honked my horn for a good 5 seconds, but he didin't stop. He made impact, but kept backing up like there was nothing in his way. I had get out of the car (I was swearing up a storm by then!!) and bang on his door before he actually stopped backing up. This guy was 71 years old and he couldn't hear me when I told him he f@cking backed into my car. That would explain why he couldn't hear me honking. He left a big a$$ dent on the passenger side panel right behind the door. I told him I was going to call the cops, so they can file an accident report... He acted like he was irritated with me because he said I was being an inconvenience!! Who backed into who mother f@cker?!?!? Luckily, this guy had insurance. Well, the cop finally came and I had my brother do most of the talking, because I was too emotional at that point. While the cop, the old man, and my brother were talking, I would yell out **** once in awhile... "F@cking people that old shouldn't be f@cking driving!!"... or "That mother f@cker better pay for everything, because I ain't paying a f@cking dime!!"... or "If that mother f@cker was 30 years younger, I would kick his a$$ in front of the cop!!" If you couldn't tell by now, I was really pissed!! To make a longer story a lot shorter... Becasue I was not at fault, his insurance company will pick up the entire tab and my payments will not change a bit. I'm having the insurance adjuster look at it tomorrow, but does anyone recommend a good body shop? I know Mike from GX Auto, but he might be busy with other jobs. And does anyone know if the panel can just be swapped out with a new one or will they have to drill holes and try to pop out the dent? It's the panel just rear of the passenger side door. Thanks...

sorry to hear. 2005 is smash G35 year. reals. everyone i know with G's had their G's damaged.

as far as body shops go. it depends on the damage. you could give JL Autobody a call @ 841.8818 tell him Senjen referred you, or you could call Tech One Customs. if your damage is a bit severe, may i recommend you hit up United Autobody on Kona street & ask for Jon/Delna. you could tell them i referred you but i haven't seen them in ages. i recommend these shops because i figure you want quality work done.

Thanks senjen for the quick reply and the recommendations. I'll give them a call after I get the quotes from the adjuster. I grew up in Ewa Beach. I was living in Waipio and Mililani until just recently... I just bought a place in The Arbors in Ewa. Yup, bought my G and my house almost at the same time. Payments are hell.

Yeah, that really sucks!! I saw it coming, but there was nothing I could have done to stop it from happening. The dude was 71 years old and practically deaf!! I'm not a violent person, but I wanted to kick his a$$ so much. I know it wouldn't have helped things with the G, but at least it would have made me feel somewhat better. What happened to your car?

 

sorry to hear about that. don't have too much experience about where to go but can tell you where NOT to go: Punchbowl Fender on Waialae. buncha dumb a.ss mthrfckrs - had my car in the shop for 1 wk & then gave me a street-illegal car (disconnected my left rear signal after repainting my bumper).

i heard that the shop that does Servco Lexus is ok (Acme?)... they're in Kakaako.

just fyi: i work at an ins. co. & i hear that ALL shops have complaints - some more than others.
