Next Mod

Alright, so I got a Ztube and I plan to get an K&N filter although I dunno what's really good with the ztube. Do you guys have any suggestion to which intake would be the best?

I've been searching around and I have been hearing the plenum spacer from Motordyne is pretty much top of the line(or most preferred). How much would this be to install locally? rating scale of 1-5 how hard is it to install?

I also have plans for a exhaust but I'm not too sure what I want. I want to go with the Borla true dual exhaust but I want an exhaust that will give me sound and the best performance. More for the best performance.

I'm a newb to modding so I'm not really sure what is what. What is a Test Pipe and what is a Y pipe? I'm guesing the test pipe A straight pipe replacement for the cats and the y pipe is a straight pipe replacement for the exhaust pipe. I don't want to go too illegal so I want to get a high flow cat back and I wouldn't mind the Y pipe if that's what I think it is.

so basically here is the question in short:
What should I install next?(right now I have a ztube installed)
What exhaust will get me the best performance?
What is a y pipe and test pipe?
What is the best cat backs?

I'm all for performance.

Thanks!

-Yoshi

your next mod should be the md spacer. imo, intakes are all the same...just your preference. same goes for the exhaust...stillen, borla, look up search option for peoples opinion. if you want to stay "legal" stay away from test pipes.

^^^If your planning on getting a true dual exhaust don't waste money getting a y-pipe, since the y-pipe gets deleted in a TD exhaust.

BTW does anyone here have the Injen exhaust? That new model with the titanium burnt tips looks mean.

true duals would be your best option. however, the general concensus is that headers would probably get you the most gain.

hmmm so i plan on going crawford high flow then headers(I dunno a good company) and then a injen exhaust but I want an exhaust that has good performance but I don't know a good td exhaust. I was thinking maybe injen or HKS which one has better performance and enough room for future turbo?

Exhaust consists of 5 pieces. Headers, down pipes (cats or test pipes), Y-Pipe, mid-pipe, and muffler. Most exhausts change out from behind the Y-pipe (named so since it connects the 2 header banks to 1 collector...the mid-pipe) to the muffler. The duals change out from the cats (down pipes) to the mufflers, eliminates the Y-pipe.

Honestly...the stock muffler is actually very good as it stands. Changing the exhaust is mostly for show and/or sound changes. Yes it does add a little hp...but very little per $$ spent on them.

The only true duals that I have been waiting to see are the Espelirs. HKS is not bad...but I think that the Espelirs might actually be better. Just waiting till they finish the test fitting. It is already here...just needs to be fine tuned for fitting.

If you are ging to go to a future FI mod...then dont even bother with headers. For that matter....depending on the time frame of the FI installment...dont bother with any of the exhaust until you get the FI installed. You may have to change out the exhaust anyhow and the FI kits usually come with headers assuming that you go the turbo route vs the SC route.

Flow management in a V6 isnt all that much...thus the crossovers...well not too sure how much it is really needed versus say on a larger V8.

Next mod...I would say is to look into that REVUP kit..or something like that. I think that the 05 versions get the most gain out of that kit. Will cost you something like $700+ I think...but more gains than a $1000 exhaust.

Everyone says that their cat back is better than this and that. However...I would suggest that you justs choose one for the sound and look. They all gain only about 5-7 hp and cost about $1000 or so.

revup gives you 06 guys the biggest gains per dollar of anything out there now. after that, most things fit the 06 like the earlier years. the changes were minimal. guys who have sway bars say they make a huge difference too.
just get a turbo already, lol.

Headers - go Strup, get a hold of Dave at partshippers.com and tell'm 636Racer referred you. MD spacer, you could go straight to the manufacturer and you can refer me there too, same with Strup. All three of them are my sponsors.

Since you're not tuning your car yourself, after the MREV, headers and exhaust, I would suggest tuning... either an ecu, or just a piggyback fuel controller... either works good. If you have the money, get cams right before you get your car tuned.

Or instead of any of those mods, you can work on suspension to make your car faster in the turns instead of only being faster in acceleration...
