Unhappy Totaled '06 Lexus GS430/Kaneohe 4/29/06

Was wondering why traffic was so bad on Kam Hwy (off castle junction). Don't know all the details, but when I finally got through there was a blk/blk 2006 GS430 (can tell by the rims) with the driver side door totally caved in and the side airbags deployed. From the way the car was positioned in traffic, it looks like the Lexus was broadsided by someone from the other intersection who may have ran the red light. ??? Hopefully the driver's ok.

I think the people below were the parents/family of the driver who were apparently recovering the driver's personal effects from the car. I've never seen this before at an accident...

BTW, does anyone know how the current G (sedan/coupe) and M perform in side-impact crashes? I didn't do the crash research before I bought my current car and found out that it did poorly in the side-impact crash test and I already got into some real near misses. I'm doing my research for my next car which hopefully will be soon.

I saw a few pictures of side impact crashes on here and the G coupe held up very well, very little penetration into the passenger compartment.

http://www.iihs.org/ratings/rating.aspx?id=617

IIHS shows the G models as Acceptable when everything get's a Good but Pelvis/leg in a side impact is a Poor.

I hate ignorant drivers, especially when I'm out riding.
