trouble with Fog Lamps

I recently just changed my regular fog bulbs to blue/white ones to match the HID headlights. They look really good, but the highbeams suck REALLY bad! Did anyone experience this problem and does anyone recomend a type of bulb that i should buy? (mine is PIAA xtreme white plasma)

Re: trouble with Fog Lamps

I'm really happy with the Sylvania SilverStar bulbs. The highs are MUCH brighter than stock and the main reason that I changed the bulbs. I don't use the foglights much anyway, and if I did, I'd go with a 'yellowish' bulb.

So does that mean the SilverStar's are yellowish?

Nope, they are actually white and rated at 4000K.

Re: trouble with Fog Lamps

There is no Xtreme White Plasma bulb...

I take it you used Super Xtremes or Super Plasma.

PIAA, for the H4's, the high beam filament is lighter than the low beam (or fog) filament. The reason they sacrifaced some color is for improved performance (less light is filtered) over the longer distances high beams are designed for.

Re: trouble with Fog Lamps

I think Silverstars cost about $25 each. And I think there is still a rebate going on...

Re: trouble with Fog Lamps

The SilverStars are the 9003ST. From any manufacturer, they are listed as the 9003 or H-4 for the fog/high beam.

Re: trouble with Fog Lamps

Thanks for the info, so would you recommend the 9003st only or go for the full fog/hi beam combo. What do you guys/gals think?

Re: trouble with Fog Lamps

The 9003ST IS the fog/high beam bulb. It's dual filament and the reflectors for each filament change the pattern.
