Where is this exhaust system on the "loudness scale"?
I understand that it doesn't drone on the inside. However,
how loud is it on the outside. Compare to other systems.
Is it louder than the Borla?

 

hmmm....great question...interesting answer, maybe.

Comparing it to a Borla is somewhat difficult. Even though there is no drone inside, there is no drone outside either, so sound is also a bit difficult to gauge.

It is somewhat the same overall volume level - but a different sound. The exhaust is also 100% effective through the power band, so you get sound effect all the way through redline. It just doesn't scream and get lost at high RPM, it growls, just louder and smoother all the way up.

It's really cool...not sure really if it's louder, but I guess it is overall, but it's so much smoother and more effective too.

I hope I answered the question...I kind of wish we had a Borla and our system in a video side by side for you

The Fast Intentions system really keeps true to the engines overall sound(growl and howl) rather than manufacturing a new sound, with a bunch of base behind it and/or trumpeting (rice).

Did you install non-foulers?

I trust that means that the oil-use issues are gone?

 

Would the car sound like this if I only put the exhaust on with no test pipes?

The testpipes add a Little more growl and a little more deep tone - the sound overall is 90+% - 95% the same. The HP and TQ are double with the testpipes though.

So, far so good and I didn't go with the non-foulers, the CEL just disappeared on its own! lol

 

Without the non-foulers, you will likely see it back in about 200 miles...

will the car pass emissions with the test pipes. Will they throw a check engine light?

 

All testpipe installations are for off road use only. You can't pass visual if you don't have CATS on your car to begin with and there are fines if you are caught driving without them as well, and you can't pass the sniff test either.

You will throw a CEL without non foulers, especially on an 05 or later, and VERY likely on earlier models as well.

Many just swap them on and off at smog test time, though that is obviously not legal for daily driving use as mentioned above.
