Re: True Dual Exhaust?

The stillen is a true dual. One has to be willing to ask the question as to why their system use's a X-pipe. When you find that answer, you won't question anymore. The stillen in of it's own, benefit's from it's having that X-pipe vs. not having it. Without it, it would not make the power and torque it did in the dyno shoot out.

IMO, the sound of the Injen is the best of all the system's to my ears, followed by the borla then the stillen.

Re: True Dual Exhaust?

When I got my exhaust installed at Injen, they had a Sedan on the lift and they were installing a dual system on it, didn't get to see it up close, but I believe Injen has a True Dual for the sedan as well..

OK, OK, I'll probably catch some guff here, but I like the stock tips on the G coupe. I'm interested in the Injen system, but the tips are just not working. Oh, and how much is this system going to cost?

Re: True Dual Exhaust?

I spoke with Injen over the phone when finding out spec's for thier universal SES mufflers. They told me I could quote them as saying "The true dual exhaust for the sedan will be out around November 1st". I have a Acosta Racing Y-pipe with high flow cats that I'm adapting into a true dual, and I want the benefit's of the X-pipe, which will be part of my system, so getting their upcomming system for the sedan is pointless for me. But great for other sedan owners.

Re: True Dual Exhaust?

The stillen exhaust may be better but I can't justify spending 600 more for 4 more lbs of torque.

Re: True Dual?

The Borla true dual (not the one in the first picture) only shares the same muffler casing. If you dropped a pingpong ball down each pipe, they would never intersect and would come out from different sides.

Re: True Dual Exhaust?

How is a "true dual" exhaust system defined?

What qualities make up a good exhaust system? Isn't that for you, the buyer, to decide.

Is a true blue dual system defined as two non-connecting exhaust paths?

In reality, is it all that important?

Why aren't all "dual" exhaust systems designed with two separate exhaust paths like Injen's? It's certainly cheaper and easier to build them that way.

Why do some have a common section like Stillen's X-pipe or Borla's H-pipe? Some of the answers may be found here... http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/69238/

Personally, I include systems with X-pipes and H-pipes in the dual exhaust system category but remain undecided on systems with a common muffler canister.

Do I personally care how an exhaust system is defined? Not really. My exhaust system priorities don't include type or classification. They do include across the board performance improvement, followed closely by sound and quality, and finally ease of installation and warranty.

My recommendations? Forget definitions. Prioritize your personal requirements, do your research and buy the system that's right for you.

Re: True Dual?

I don't believe that's true. When Borla was announced their System for the "Z" on June 6, Borla proclaimed it utilized a"...newly designed X-flow muffler." A muffler like that mixes the right and left sides before the outlet. Don't get me wrong, I used an "X" Type Magnaflow on the Dual System that I built for my "G", and I love it. The Borla muffler however uses 90 degree fittings in and out of the muffler, so you can't actually see the insides, but from their quote above it is an "X" type.
