Lost Power!!!!

Most threads here deal with gains (as they should), well this topic is of the opposite nature.

I installed the Injen SES on my G 1 year ago (still love the sound vroooom!). Recently I noticed an exhaust leak sound whenever I opened the drivers door and thought the gasket between the CAT and the exhaust was leaking. I jacked the car up today ready to adjust and tighten the flange connections and look what I found! Must be all that spirited driving .

What do you guys think? Repair (weld) or replace? Maybe use the Magnaflow as a replacement? Add the H pipe as well?

I wonder how much power I'm losing . I can't wait to get it fixed .

Also for all you Houston G riders, I need the name of a good muffler shop preferrably in the West/South West area (I live in Cinco Ranch). I want to get their opinion on welding this crack.

Thx Shooter

I will try and find a local shop and get it welded and post any butt dyno power gains .

I could really use some suggestions from the local group. Maybe I'll post over on 350Z as well.

What if the crack worsens and the 2 parts separate. Can the resonator fall and hurt my car or is there a pipe that extends inside the resonator?

I doubt it will get any worse. I drove around with mine like that for a good few months, no problems except for the annoying air leak sound, and maybe some power loss.

Thanks for the comment crypten

Did you also have the problem with the exit pipes not perfectly lining up with the cutouts in the rear bumper? Mine are positioned to the inside.

BTW AWESOME avatar!

I have heard about that issue, but I haven't had it. I had a rattle with the mid-pipe hitting the cross member, which sucked. I was told that you have to reposition the exhaust so it doesn't rattle, but that didn't help, so I found a work around. Try to had to tighten or loosen up the bolts until you have it in the right position.

With the way Injen has responded to previous issues (ie: fiberglass), I doubt they would take the blame for a fault in the product. It would probably take a decent sized group of people to complain about something like this. If anyone wants to start up a list to submit to Injen, I would be the first to sign my name.

Any reputable manufacturer will warranty its welds and workmanship for lifetime - if not - then why buy it...my 2 cents...Rick
