Question Deciding on new exhaust....

So this will be my first mod after the k&n drop in filter. I am all about performance and not looks, that being said i wanna see some power.
Now i know that stillen and hks claim power gains of 10 hp+ but i am a little optimistic coming from a 4 cylinder that gains more like 2 lol. How about torque stillens website claims 14 lbs/ft+, i thought you would loose some considering your opening up airflow. I was wondering if you guys could help me out here maybe some dynos and butt dynos of different exhausts i love the Tis but i love hp gains more, im really leaning towards stillen can anyone confirm some gains even if it isnt stillen?

I've searched alot, i just wanted some answers about the dynos that i havent been able to find. The reason i am leaning towards stillen is because they claim more than hks and it is cheaper, but i need to know if the advertising is all talk.

advertisement is advertisement. people (including myself sometimes) look way too much into dyno numbers these days.

there have been some comments on the weight of the stillen exhaust. i think people were complaining that it was too heavy. or maybe they were saying it was really light. lol i dont remember, but i think they were saying it was heavy....haha memory loss

^ Yeah they were saying it was heavy. The HKS is lighter. From what I have heard after market exhaust reduces power on the low end, and icreases power on the high end. Personally, I have the Stillen exhaust and have not experienced a noticeable decrease in power on the low end vs. stock exhaust. Def some pickup on the high end.

On their website it claims that the torque gains are around 3400 wouldnt that be considered low end? I am talking about their true dual, but this weight difference is it by much? I know weight makes a difference but i also know that 10 pounds is going to be a minor difference that will probably not be noticed.

I'm not sure how much the weight difference is. I have read it on here somewhere, but I can't remember what it is. Our cars are heavy anyways. Like I said above, I did not notice any low end loss of power with my Stillen TD.

yeh but not all after market exhausts are true dual. you just said 'after market exuast' rather than specifying 'true dual after market exhausts'

Sorry, I assumed we were just referring to the HKS and Stillen.

if you want the best performance per dollar, look into the Motordyne MREV+ or plenum spacers depending on what year your g is.
