Fast Intentions Exhaust

Well i just got it in the mail this morning, had it installed and picked it up around 4:00pm. So far ive only put about 4 miles on it, and figured id make a post about how I like it so far.

Its definately good quality, fits under the car great and looks good too ;p

Tone, a bit louder than stock, definately more throaty, my exhaust shop said it sounded like a honda.. (i should have just hit him). I love it, its deeper than stock and louder, no droning, havent heard any rasp at all, and its not obnoxiously loud (which is exactly what i was looking for). Not sure why the idiot thought it sounded like a honda. i have yet to hear any honda sound deep and throaty, mostly all i hear are the kids running around sounding like a swarm of bees in a tunnel.

Overall ive very happy I bought the FI exhaust, cant wait to hear what it sounds like after it breaks in a bit more, (or if i go SC)

Thanks again for the quality work and the great customer service to the people working at FI

The sound will mellow and improve over the next 200 miles.

(sorry to threadjack, quick ?):
Dr_J > you're planning on the JWT kit soon, right? Do you know if getting the FastIntentions cats would end up a waste with the JWT kit (i.e. does it comes with HF cats or TP?)? Do you know how it will hook up?

I plan to go with the JWT TT in the future, but was gonna get this exhaust on my own first.

I would just run the test pipes. SGP said that the FI setup will work well w/ the JWT...I assume you are running the 530 TT which will limit you to about 500 whp.

In NC you should be able to find someone to smog it once a year....if you were in CA it would be a different story. the Intimidator 2.5 dual w/ test pipes (remember...Tony made the Labrees which are regarded as the best test pipes...mine are great....you just have to check oil loss every 2 weeks...no way around that w/ any test pipes). I wouldn't get h/f cats unless I was back in CA. Many people have probs w/ test pipes (oil loss smog) but Tony's are regarded as the best.

IMO, JWT TT, FI dual exhaust/test pipes w/ the V-pro and a quality bottom end build will produce the absolute ultimate 470-500 whp DD. You are always going to have challenges when you go TT....the above combo will give you the most reliable and problem free high hp vehicle of all the choices.

Who is going to tune and install?

As far as I know and I have a close source to JWT everything should mount up in stock location...Tony

thx for the help. I was worried about the fumes/smell with test pipes. I was hoping hf cats would take care of the smell and allow the sniffer test to pass and not hurt performance *that* much.

The car will go to Sharif, just not sure when exactly as I also am going with his short block+JWT+UTEC and that's a chunk of dough to set aside and I'm also learning about tuning right now.

I want to be able to tune the other maps on my own besides the one he will tune. My rationale for spending this money is not just to have a nice 500 whp car but to also learn how to tune; at least that's the plan...

Any advice on the FastIntentions exhaust is appreciated!

Sharif is an excellent choice. He is an HKS cert dealer now...but if you want to tune, then the UTEC is probably the best way to go. W/ a built bottom end you won't necessarly need the ultimate knock protection the the V-pro offers.

I would definately to w/ Tony's exhuast and test pipes in any case. The are designed for forced induction. The fumes/smell are very minor.

I love mine - and I'm Vortech'd.

I have the HFC, no smell and only a MINOR, 1-2HP, difference...

No, I'm convinced on the FI exhaust - my question is about the HF cats vs. test pipes. With only a minor difference in HP (was that NA or FI?), I think I would prefer that.

Do the test pipes have something in them to address the smell associated with the unburnt hydrocarbons? My reading indicates this is NOT the case. Rick, can you tell me from personal experience about the difference in smell/fumes with the test pipes? Are they minor/minimal? Or can you not leave the engine running in a parking lot without making everyone around you sick to their stomach?

(my apologies to the OP for completely hijacking this thread)

The resonated testpipes have resonators, but they are not CAT cores - which get extremely hot and burn off those gases...so no, resonated testpipes will not clear the exhaust like CATS do...Rick

perfect, thanks. so metal hf cats with 2 extra bungs (stock wideband, aftermarket wideband, and EGT probe) - sound right for FI?

Does anyone know if the JWT kit provides a before-turbo EGT bung? I thought I remembered reading it somewhere but I can't find it now.
