Anybody try the HKS Racing Suction Kits

I was wondering if anybody has put this on the coupe and what they thought about the product. I was hoping to get some feedback on the sound and performance of this product. Thanks.

Here is the page where I found it:

I have this on my G35C. The looks are great, sound is louder/deeper at WOT with a 'blow-off' whistle sound when getting off throttle. I've noticed better engine response. Horsepower gain in neglible though... Overall, I'd buy it again, no doubt! Plus it matches my HKS exhaust! Hope this helps.

Take care

In DSM-land, they're called mushroom death filters.

Mushroom because they're shaped like a mushroom. Death because when they get old, the filter element breaks apart and gets sucked into the motor.

Ouch!!
$400.00 bones for that.
You do know that any air intake is not going to give you that much, if any HP/TQ gains.
That's a lot of money for just a better sounding growl under the hood.
Too pricey, not worth the money, imo.
You'd be better off with a Z tube and K&N or something else and still have $$ for a spacer that will give you more HP/TQ.
Just my .02

Agreed, $400 for an alluminum tube and some "sound" is overkill for me. Definitely invest that money toward what was recomended above. If you're all about the HKS brand, then go for it.

Hey shawn, you're actually a bit of an inspiration for me. I read your posts before deciding to buy the HKS. Thanks! Your car looks great!

Also, for me, I couldn't get the heat shield on so left it off. Instead I put back the OEM 'snorkel' piece that feeds fresh air to the mushroom. Works pretty good I guess. I live in Texas, so it gets darn hot in the summer.

Truthfully, KuRuPT, you may be better off getting a Z-tube and drop in filter. Maybe even get a popcharger or stillen intake. It depends on what you're looking for in an intake. If its for the looks and JDM factor, get the HKS or if you've got bank out the wazoo get the ARC intake (it fits the G35C I think?). If it's just to have a good performing intake that is functional and reliable (not too mention cheaper) try the other options. Let us know if we can help you out more in picking your intake...

Take care.

This is a primary example of the sheeople mentality here. Buy a Z Tube AND a Motordyne spacer for that... $400.00 my ***.
