Why is everybody hung up on his numbers? His numbers don't mean squat. He could dyno anywhere from 200 to 280, depending on the dyno. Give it up guys.

To the OP: you went in and got a baseline, then a tune. That's all that's important. At least you can visually confirm that the tune worked.

Those are about the numbers my car put down on sharif's dyno dynamics dyno. I think it was around 246-248 with similar mods. But from others comparisons, shirif's dyno reads about 20-25 whp less than most dynos. In reality the numbers do not matter much. Mine is faster than stock no question and is loads of fun to drive, and thanks to sharif's tuning is smooth as a baby's butt

The first set of numbers are the baseline #'s with all my mods except the unichip. The second set of numbers represent the unichip and tune numbers...I am pretty new at this stuff but from what I understand to get near 300 RWHP with bolt ons is pretty difficult....Again, I'm stoked with the car and how it pulls and the smoothness is has throughout the RPM's.....I'm will stop here for now with my mods and save up for my next round of engine mods which will be a Vortech supercharger in the next year or two(the wife needs to finish dental school first)....Thanks for all the input from everyone and this site is great as I have got done all my mods from researching this site!! Horsepower doesn't add up. If exhaust on stock car gives +5hp and intake on stock car +5 hp, it doesn't mean that combined exhaust and intake give you +10.
Expecting +30 whp from Mrev and Stillen combined is not correct.

No, but JWT pop charger, mrev2 and 5/16 plenum, kinetix hiflow cats, DC sports headers, stillen true dual exhaust, and a tuned unichip might add up to it.

Regardless....your baseline could've been 220 for all we know. Good to hear you got more out of your mods with the tuning you did. Thumbs up!

At least you can be sure you're extracting every last bit of power you can with your combo.

It just amazes me how some people pick on others just because the "numbers" don't add up. Be happy for the guy, he spent his money and got what HE wanted, NOT what YOU wanted. If you want more "numbers" pony up and buy the guy a blower or something.

In my opinion this is the only test of a modification

we're not downing th guy, we're just advising him that his numbers are low for all those mods on a dyno jet and that perhaps something is not working right.. Thats what the board is for, to share and discuss information and give feedback
With that being said, i agree that your numbers are low for some reason. I have just intake, exhuast and testpipes and on Sharif's Dyno Dynamics dyno which as someone said consistantly reads 20-25whp lower than any dynojet my car made 255whp. So for his car with that many more mods to be in actuality putting down less power than my car means something cannot be right. * i will admit, my car is stronger than average but still that too much of a difference.

Hey guys,

He's actually posting VERY good numbers for that dyno machine.
See this link.
This is from another car (only MREV+ and spacer) dynod on the same dyno machine at ZcarGarage. This is the kind of comparison you want.

255HP and 248 TQ Vs the plot below at 236HP and 239TQ. Good gains from a tune and stack of other mods!

His numbers are very good.

He's got about 300 at the crank. 300HP x .85 = 255 (15% loss)

My 5AT sedan put down 235 SAE with the mods in my sig prior to TS reflash running A/F in the low 14's. It was on a Dynojet 248. If the reflash with timing/fuel optimize bumped me up 5 HP to 240 then I would be right there at 300 crank. 300 x .8 = 240 (20% AT loss). That's about it for N/A on these motors unless you want to start getting into cams & internals etc. My goal was to approach the 306 on the '07 so I don't have to buy one.

I like your theory; I am trying to do that too =) so I can save some money instead of putting another sum into the 07...

Trying to convert RWHP to FWHP is stupid. I have heard everything when it comes to how much percent is eaten by the driveline. Shoot I saw one "Mustang and Ford" magazine claim a 25% loss on their project car with a factory T-5. Said car makes 370 at the wheels, using their logic this car makes 493 at the wheels. Yet in a drag test it only topped out at 110mph.
My Mustang dyno'ed a little less than that, 360RWHP, yet topped out at 116 mph in the quarter. Did mine make over 500 hp??? No, it made 360 at the wheels.

The only true test is a racetrack. If not, pick one dyno and stick with it from start to finish.....

Just dyno'ed my car today. Used Dyno Dynamics Dynamometer, temp 60 degrees, sea level, and car set for 1 hour. 03 Coupe 5AT, Z-tube, drop in K&N air filter, and 5/16" plenum spacer, other than that bone stock.............256.7 HP/240 TQ. These are just base line numbers, I am having a super charger installed within the next month. I was actually expecting them to be lower.

My thread is still alive!!! Thanks for your great product Tony and your comments on my numbers. I actually just took a drive to Santa Cruz from my house in san jose california via the back roads(which is almost like a race track through the mountains) and my car pulled very very good throughout the powerband. I'm really enjoying the mods. Rogue short shifter arrived couple weeks ago and will be putting that on along with a Z tube.....
