Re: Crawford or Borla headers?

This is not even close to being a race. Crawford by far. Borla makes NOTHING to 1 hp believe it or not!!!

Crawford all the way. The final version makes a lot more lower end power than the earlier version. 16 hp at the top.

Re: Crawford or Borla headers?

go to my350z.com and read. The crawfords make power in the middle and extend your powerband to about 6300 rpms

Re: Crawford or Borla headers?

i didnt think the crawford headers were out yet. I think a better question would be what would be better the crawford or the Nismo or the HKS or perhaps the Top secret though the top secret are super exspensive

Re: Crawford or Borla headers?

Is there other manufacture for the plenum beside crawford? I think crawford look ugly. I'm more interested in a flat plenum from the air inlet down.

Re: Crawford or Borla headers?

nismo made 9hp on the dyno here in norcal, while crawford made 16hp. And they cost about the same.

Crawford all the way

Re: Crawford or Borla headers?

are the borla headers only good with the exhaust? Maybe they compliment each other being made by the same company. Or would you still see more results with the crawford headers with the borla exhaust?

Re: Crawford or Borla headers?

that 16 hp was dyno'ed by the crawford guys in TN WITH A BORLA EXHAUST FOR THE Z. So I think that rules out the question of it. You get what you pay for, Borla headers 500 ish dollars, Xerd 700 ish, Nismo 1100 ish, Crawford 1300 ish (they offer a 2100 dollar package with plenum, high flow cats, and some'n else), Top Secret upwards of 2000.00.

Do I need all that top secret puts out? no. 2000 for headers plus 700 for plenum, plus 600.00 for some exhaust puts me well on the way to an ATI kit

Re: Crawford or Borla headers?

borla exhaust is the way to go.i have the headers and exhaust its a big difference.i dont trust crawford modified parts.exhaust and headers are the safe way to go.

Re: Crawford or Borla headers?

Nice one taikien, What I liek the most about your accusation (which I could careless about) is the way you explained yourself. That was remarkable.

I do know something about the headers by Borla. They are much shorter than Crawford's. Just look at the two designs. If you really knew anything about this you would know that length of head manifold pipe has ALOT to do with the performance. I can explain the theory behind this, but just don't feel liek to a green [censored] like you.

Also, I saw with my own eyes when the Borla made 2 hp on a dyno (before and after) and from testimony of other members, real modders who know what they are doing and who saw thesame thing first hand as well. Much less than Crawford's 16hp.

Stay that ignorant, crappy companies like Borla (IMO) count on it.

Re: Crawford or Borla headers?

I have a two questions... are the 9 and 16 hp gains measured at the wheels or flywheel? Do these gains include any gain from the new exhaust? some cat back systems say they produce comparable horsepower gains. Would you gain anything from headers if you did not replace the rest of the exhaust system (not that you wouldn't replace it)?

Re: Crawford or Borla headers?

talkien, please stop the GD, MF'n, S41T eating cussing and hating.

This is a good board, either contribute something meaningful, ask a question, or just post ***** but don't hate on the board please.

The crawfords made power on Z which is in a better state of tune than the G. Therefore they will do the same and probably more for teh G sedan. That would explain why you saw a difference with the borla headers on your car. They only made 2 hp (incidentally a Dynojet is only accurate to +/- 5 hp) on a Z but should make a lot more on a G sedan. Tell you what go get your car dyno'ed and then find someone else (perhaps me) who will buy the crawfords and compare to their dyno. Then we can see what we will see. Until then nobody has anything else to go on besides the work the Z guys have done.

Curtis, the gains were at the wheels, and you will make the most with a properly matched exhaust system (headers, ypipe and catback). There has not been enough R&D done on these cars to say what is the BEST exhaust to run yet. Every now and then you will find an exhaust setup that makes MORE than the sum of the gains from the individual parts and THAT is what everyone is looking for. until then be prepared to swap resonators, cats, mufflers, piping sizes and bend radii occasionally as you tune your own exhaust.

Re: Crawford or Borla headers?

thanks for the replies, but i meant the plenum v headers mod. anyway, why would the borla make so much less hp than crawford headers. does anybody have some real proof, rather than just someone saying so.
