Reved UP Z tube Intake dynos?

I have been seeing alot memeber using the Z tube on their stock intake air box. I am interested in this mod and I was wondering if anyone had any dynos to prove gains. I am specifically interested in any dynos of reved up motors with just the Z tube. Thanks.

please tell me you're kidding. trust me when i say that if ztubes (or any intake for that matter) have substantial gains then everyone (with little to no exceptions) would have one. but that's not the case. there are several intakes available for our cars and everyone seems to have a different one. that shows that there is a lot of debate or disagreement with which has best gains or if any at all.

intakes are primarily sound mods.

the z tube will just yield a throatier growl as a result of no bafflers.

and dynos are overrated. sorry, but it's the truth. people (including myself sometimes lol ) are obsessed with dynos these days. we all like to ask "where are the dynos to prove the gains?" "is this dyno proven?" etc.

besides, all cars react differently to mods anyway. so even if the z tube alone yielded any gains on one car it might not on others.

just my two cents.

btw - good luck with this (in all seriousness). but i doubt anyone has wasted money to dyno a ztube alone to see the difference in gains if any at all.

Thanks for the insight. I was planning on Purchasing the Stillen Z tube and Y pipe. Since I kept reading that the Z tube actually provided a noticeable performance increase. The reason I was planning on the Y pipe is, it seems to be quite restrictive. I am actually impressed in the stock exhaust it seems to be a very nice unit especially the piping after the Y on my coupe.

I have 3 mods: Z-Tube, K&N Air Filter, and 5/16 plenum spacer. Dyno'd my car 2 weeks ago...256hp/240TQ. I did this because Im getting a Supercharger installed and wanted a baseline to use as a comparison. Not sure what an 03 Coupe 5at gets bone stock. Additionally, not to sure which of three will give you the most gains by themselves. research would suggest the plenum spacer gives you more bang for the buck. Just a thought.

jmho, but the jic y pipe is the only one i would buy.

but i highly suggest you make sure you are sticking with the oem exhaust (or any other non true dual exhaust for that matter). otherwise, itll be a waste of money to get a y pipe - especially the jic one since it isnt cheap.

if you're looking for good gains, look into some test pipes or high flow cats.

wow those are great numbers for a 5at. what kind of dyno was used? i'm guessing you dont have an actual baseline (full stock)?

you might have a super g i know a 6mt rev up that dyno'd about 20whp more than every other 6mt revup g on the same day/conditions/dynos (all bone stock).
