y pipe tanabe or stillen?

im thinking tanabe for my y-pipe. everyone seems to love the jic but isnt it for forced induction? and the stillen looks like a nice unit for the price.just concerned about the r&d that went into the stillen. any input guys?

aiight. i wasnt bashing single exhuasts. i just dont want you to waste your money on a y pipe if you plan on going TD later on.

i'd also suggest test pipes or high flow cats.

I might even suggest expanding your selections and go for a cheaper y-pipe. Unless you want the brand, for the most part, there isn't much different (other than design) between y-pipe on the performance side. There's only so much R&D that can go into joining 2 pipes, so there's no need to spend big bucks on name brand unlike exhaust and headers..just a thought.

going to thread jack, i ordered a jic y-pipe and am having second thoughs on installing because the outlet is 3in whereas stock inlet is 2.5 and from my endless searches I'm finding people say that there is too much turbulance which causes loss of power and rasp if you keep oem exhaust.

That being said, if you want to keep the stock exhaust I'd suggest the tanabe since its outlet is 70mm closer to the stock 65mm inlet. BTW, I still think the JIC design looks superior just the stupid collector is too big for oem.

PPL correct me if I'm wrong,

60 bucks... What do ya think? Curious about the 3" out. Seems like all the Ypipes have a 3" collector, does this mate to a stock exhaust?

I have yet to see one single dyno of a y-pipe on the G/Z VQ35. I've searched this site and my350z. Most say it's a waste and actually hurts power below 3500rpms. If you buy one, please do a before and after dyno, if you can.

^^that's a good point. but i understand why though. i wouldnt expect to see any substantial gains with a ypipe upgrade only and therefore i wouldnt wanna waste my money. then again, i'm poh!

on my350z there is a dyno of japtrix y-pipe and mid-pipe, also there are a few for the utr y-pipe on my350z that show a gain of 4-7 on stock car.
