Yet another Stillen Airbox + Z-tube Review

Just wanted to share some info. Just installed the Stillen Airbox and Stillen Z-tube which I recieved from Horsepower Freaks. ( I got an excellent deal )
After removing the stock airbox, I was actually quite impressed with the engineering and design of the stock box. Ripped the stock tube out and this thing looks very restrictive. I'd recommend every G owner pick up a Z-tube. (its cheap!)

Installed both and it was fairly easy. Don't bother paying someone to install these components as its pretty much straight forward. Didn't have any problems with the z-tube touching or rubbing against the A/C lines either. Just take your time, make sure everything is installed/aligned properly and all bolts and clamps are on tight.

First impression: Started the badboy up. Radio/heater fan off. No difference in sound. Took it for a quick drive to get gas. I then notice a whistle in the lower RPMS. I must say, I'm not a fan of the whistle. Its gets annoying. So after rippping it, after 4k, the engine gives a different tone and comes alive. Its alot louder, deeper and more aggressive. Again, i'm not a fan. I love the sound of the stock motor/exhaust note. Did I notice a difference in power? Maybe but probably because I had a dirty stock filter. After reading a few reviews on the forums, everybody seemed happy with their intake. So I guess I had high expectations.

1) If I had to do it all over again, I probably would have went with the Z-tube/K&N drop in.
2) Am I going to remove the stillen intake? Probably not as I'm too lazy.
3) Was it worth the $$$? Probably not again.

But if I get an increase in MPG, i'd be satisfied with that. Let me know if you guys have any other questions. =)

Try putting the power duct back in.

Or try putting the oem tube back in. That should quiet things down a bit.

Did you really think that you were going to be able to install an intake and not experience a difference in sound? if this is the case it sounds like you didn’t do your research.

Thank god for EBay right

I'm surprised that you didn't like it.. I just installed mine last week and absolutely love it, the sound of the intake sounds nice especially in the higher rpm's. Install was simple and there does feel like their is a power gain in the top end.
