Bypass Valve for CAI necessary?

I live in San Diego and just recently ordered an Injen Cold Air Intake for my Coupe. I was wondering if I really needed the bypass valve that shuts off the engine if water is being sucked up.

I thought this was only necessary if you lived in rainy areas that are known to flood or get really wet. Do I really need this if I live in Sunny SD?

Thanks Guys

It's not necessary for you to get one. It's more of a precaution if you totally, I do mean totally, submerse the filter into water. But us living in nice old San Diego, we don't have to worry about it.

It's not totally necessary unless you get a lot of rain. Also, it doesn't shut the engine down. There's another filter higher up that will suck air in if you get "swamped". The big concern is that the filter is so low to the ground that a large puddle could do some serious damage. It's already happened to a couple of z's and g's. I got one because I didn't want to be the guy with the broken G saying "I wish I would've....". It's rare but possible.
